Good morning!! Great that your babies did great last night! Scary to let them sleep outside that first night. I got mine out as well into their brooder in a building outside. They were terrified! LOL But they lived thru it. I am not sure I did though. LOL Oh, one of my babies injured herself somehow and I have vet wrap on her leg!! She is missing 2 scales and was bleeding!! OMG my poor baby. I feel like a bad momma. I have no idea how this happened. Was 2 days ago I think when I had them out under the trees. My poor baby!

You can get them in the reptile section at some pet stores. Or you can order them on line. A 75 watt bulb is not that expensive. I think Amazon carries them under "Exo-Terra Heat Glo Lamp" and they are like $6 or something like this. I keep these and a 250 watt on hand for hospital cages in case somebody gets sick and needs heat. All my brooders are always infra red too.

Poor Gracie. You know what helps with circulation and even arthritis is Infra Red heat lamps. I use these in all poultry hospital cages. Infra Red reduces inflammation, increases circulation and helps deep tissue damage. Gracie might benefit from 15 mins a day with an Infra Red lamp bath. I use it on my old male quail so he can walk. A guy here on BYC used it on his Silkie that kept having seizures and falling over backwards and he says the bird is nearly cured from using Infra Red. Very healing light. So remember this if Gracie starts having issues. This could heal her up well.

Oh, I got the babies out in the chicken run in their enclosure today! They love it! And the adult flock wasn't even concerned about them. Took a few looks at the chicks and went about their biz! So mixing in a few months should go smooth! Did you get your babies out yet today in the run?

Sorry about Gracie and the frost bite. I hope she can pull thru strong. You might get her on probiotics. They are great for boosting the immune system. I use them on all babies til 6 weeks of age and my adult flock several times a week. Including all babies and my adult flock, I have 7 chickens.

Good morning!! While I love them all equally, in my adult flock my favorite is Miss Molly. She knows her name, comes when called and is the biggest lap hound there is! In my chick flock, I am getting really attached to Hermione. She is becoming a real sweet heart! And you?....Which birds are your favorites in your adult and chick flocks?

We do it too. I supervise them for all afternoon on weekends and non school days. They enjoy it very much and hide under bushes and things when they see hawks.
