Pros: Sturdy, large, pretty,
Cons: Nothing
This is a great thing to collect eggs in. It is sturdy so it won't break easily. It is large and can hold many eggs easily. It also is pretty and will not stand out if in your kitchen or on your counter.

I love this basket!!

Pros: Cheap, smells good
Cons: Chicks took no interest in it, only had a few pecks in it
This was a waste of money. My chicks ignored it and only pecked at it once or twice. I'm glad it wasn't expensive.
Pros: The flock loves it!
Cons: Addictive for them, costs money
This is a great treat for your flock. They will love it!! The downside is that it is very expensive. So try and conserve as much as you can.
Pros: Covers most everything you need to know about chicken raising
Cons: Not many pictures, lots of info to take in
I got this book for a present. It is a wonderful book!! Just a little... overwhelming I guess you could say. It has TONS of info and may make some newbies feel overwhelmed. But it covers most things you need to know. Also if you are wanting pictures of many things or step by step guide with pictures then this is not the book for you.

Pros: Lovely plumage, cute eggs, good foragers, SUPER curious, ambitious about many things, cold hardy, very friendly and sweet and lays daily
Cons: Small eggs, very loud, their curiosity sometimes gets annoying!
I have one speckled sussex name Rosie. This is my first time raising this breed and I'm loving every minute of it! She is as curious as a chicken can get. She takes big risks, wanders off on her own, chases wild birds and rabbits, jumps around, runs everywhere, falls down a lot on account of her bolting and jumping, loves to sit on my shoulder and likes to try everything! Her eggs are very small. She also is very vocal. This breed is a great one! She was super affectionate as a chick and now still loves to cuddle. Crazy, cute and curious basically sums up Rosie! I would defiantly recommend this breed!
Pros: Everything is good
Cons: Nothing
I've always used Nature Wise for my birds. They are healthy, lively and happy! I recommend every single one of their products. Buy Nature Wise!!

Pros: FRIENDLY, sweet, cuddly, lovable, great layers, large eggs, beautiful, soft birds, cold hardy, great foragers, not very broody, AWESOME!
Cons: Can get frostbite, jealous, loud, mean to other chickens, pecks others you hold instead of them, not broody,
The buff orpington is the best chicken breed I have ever owned!! They are so sweet, friendly, cuddly and awesome! They are on the jealous side meaning if I hold another chicken, they will come over and peck her. One of mine is very loud when she wants something and another one has gotten frostbite twice. They are large breeds meaning they will need a large living area. But, they lay amazing, large eggs. Mine aren't very broody but the breed is known for it's broodiness. I've had my buff orpingtons for three years and they have only gone broody twice. This breed will really slow down on laying in their third year. They are a healthy and beautiful breed! They also are great foragers and do well in either confinement or free range. The chicks are the sweetest and most curious chicks I have ever raised!

I recommend this breed to everyone!!!

Pros: Keeps my hens and chicks in peak condition and health. Plus, the layer feed keeps my hens healthy and keeps the eggs smooth, strong and delicious!
Cons: The chickens love it so much that they eat it so fast so I have to buy more all the time!!
I've never had a bad experience with NatureWise! They do their research and include all the nutrients chickens need at different ages. Plus, on the back of every bag, they give you feeding instructions and even tips on keeping your chickens healthy!! They come in the three forms of crumble, mash and pellets. My personal favorite (and my Girls' favorite!) is the crumbles. I will always use this brand with my chickens. I recommend it to everyone who wants to keep their chickens healthy and happy!!

Pros: Curious, lays blue eggs, cold hardy, broody, quiet, gentile, camouflages well, good forager, cute voice and laid early.
Cons: Very shy, dislikes being held, jumpy, broody, bottom of pecking order.
I LOVE THIS BREED!! I have one named Quanie. (I named her that because she lays a quantity of eggs!

) She has always been shy yet the first to beg for treats! (Once she even ripped a bag of mealworms to get to the goodies!!) She is three years old and is still laying frequently. Plus her eggs are blue! She started laying early at four months which is another bonus. She is my most pretty chicken of my six hens. I'm defiantly getting more of this breed in the future. The downside is that she gets picked on by all the other birds and doesn't like being held. She also goes broody once a year which is good and bad! But, I highly recommend this breed to EVERYONE!

Pros: Covers most everything kids need to know about starting a flock. Also, it includes charts so kids can keep track of eggs, feed costs, etc.
Cons: Doesn't talk much about individual breeds, some of the sections could be more detailed.
This book is very helpful for beginning kids who are looking to raise chickens for breeding, meat or eggs. I highly recommend it! However, if you are looking for a book that explains about different breeds, this is not for you. But, Gail Damerow does a good job of explaining most the concepts of raising chickens in "kid" form!

Pros: Adorable eggs, docile, BEAUTIFUL, heat hardy, occasionally broody, small size so they eat less feed and take up less room
Cons: Small eggs, hens crow like roosters are are loud, shy, bottom of pecking order, flighty, need to roam or else they get mean
I bought two white sebrights and one we had to get rid of right away because even though she was laying eggs she was crowing! The other one was very friendly and laid cute eggs regularly. But after having her for two years, she too started crowing and acting mean because she was constantly confined. So don't get the sebright if you have limited space, are looking for a docile, cold hardy, good layer and calm chicken. But if you have space and don't mind crowing then get the sebright because they are one of the most beautiful chickens out there and lay cute eggs.

Pros: Covers most of the common chicken ilnesses and how to treat them and SO much more.
Cons: None!!
If you are looking for a chicken health handbook, look no further! This book covers basic info on chicken keeping and chicken behavior. It helps you keep up regular biosecurity in the coop and helps you with most chicken diseases and problems. Highly recommend it!!

Pros: Covers everything you need to know about keeping chickens in small places!
Cons: It only talks about raising chickens in the city so if you are wanting to raise chickens in the country, this book won't do much for you:(
This is a wonderful book for anyone who is looking to raise just a few hens in their backyard. It has helped me soooo much! I highly recommend this book to urban chicken keepers!
