  • Does anyone have advice on how to introduce 4 chicks to 3 hens already in the coop? Will a hen adopt them and look after them?
Hi , I think 2 of my girls may have got into something or it is my feed . 2 of them are standing alone and their crops are squishy . I am having trouble with my fermented feed it starts to smell nasty after a while ( maybe Yeasty ?) .It has been humid recently in NY . No smell from the crop ( on one I didnt smell the other one yet ) on dry mash for now .

In the summer heat, the FF matures good deal more quickly, so it's normal for it to smell stronger now. I'm betting it's just feed and high intake of water that gives them the mushy feeling crops. The strong FF is no problem, just make smaller batches so you can refresh more often if the smell bothers you. Sour crop isn't that common, no matter what you may read on BYC.
I have a question, a member of my FB group has English Oprington roo she is trying to rehome, says he needs his own flock, they've raised them for 4H, where would I find information to help her rehome him close, we live in Idaho

You could try the thread for your state here on BYC to put out some feelers in your own state. You could also tell her to advertise in the local ads for that...I've seen them on Craig's List, in the local newspapers and in free ad publications. Sometimes all it takes is word of mouth...mentioning to someone at work, at church, the local grocery store, etc.
