Frizzle

Frizzle feathered fowl can be traced as far back as the 1600, from Africa to the Philippines....
Pros: Relatively quiet, nice to other chickens, fun for something different.
Cons: Skittish around me, may be more sensitive to sun and cold due to curled feathers that bear the skin on some.
I have a little white Cochin Bantam Frizzle and she has been so scared of me since I got her at a 10 days old. She certainly is cute to look at. I wish she'd let me scoop her up and pet her but she is frightened! She gets along with other chickens but she is at the bottom of the pecking order probably due to her strange feathers.

Pros: Broody
Cons: Attitude
This was a rescue bird and she is the boss of the coop. I thought she was even mean to her chick sometimes but I like her because she does go broody so I could put my Brabanter or Bantam Modern Game eggs under her. She kicks like a mule and bites like a crocodile!

Pros: nice feathers
Cons: mean, aggressive, hard to catch, loud
My frizzle roo was so mean. We handled him very well from the start, but whn he grew from a chick into a cock, he started to become agressive to our 5 hens and he would force them to stay under the coop at night (we had to go out every day to physically put them in). He wouldnt let us touch him without squabbling and squawking! do not reccommend this chicken :(
Frizzles are pretty great chickens and have almost no faults! But the thing is with their feathers curling upward it doesn't seal the heat in, so they can get cold very easily. Also when it rains or snows they have to be sheltered because the rain or snow gets stuck in their feathers. Same when its hot the sun can get to their skin. But they are still my favorite chicken, and always will be!

My chickens are cochin frizzles. They are gently, excellent setters and mothers
Pros: Very quiet and everyone wants them!
Cons: Frazzles
I have a rooster and he is the quietest bird ever!! He is nice to his girls and is very well behaves, he sometime jumps out of his block and I just pick him up and put him back in :)
Pros: Some have nice personalities, cute
Cons: Some are kind of nasty
I have had a few males, they were all a bit nasty when they were young but Spike calmed down as he grew up and then he was killed by the mink when my 12 banties were killed

I would have them again.
Pros: Cute
Cons: feather issues
I bought them from a hatchery and I should have known better They are over frizzled which is caused by breeding a frizzle to a frizzle. The result is over frizzled which causes brittle feathers and feather loss. If you want these cute little things, make sure you buy them from a reputable breeder and not a hatchery, and make sure you ask if both mom and pop were frizzled.
Pros: Beautiful, comes in different breeds
Cons: Be careful breeding......
I have frizzle in both bantam Polish and bantam Cochin. Of course the Cochins are just darling, with very sweet personalities. I love the feelings of their curly feathers....They're so soft.

The Polish frizzle is beautiful, but very high strung, as the Polish breed can be....

This is a black mottled Cochin bantam with the frizzle genetics

Pros: Cute as could be!
I have a White Rock bantam Frizzle. Cute as could be, raised by a broody and definitely holding his own as the only bantam in amongst all my large fowl. I'm hoping for frizzled Easter Eggers down the road.
