Frizzle

I love my Frizzle Easter Egger! Our broody hen hatched 3 frizzles in her brood earlier this Summer, and they're all beautiful to look at. Frizzles have such unique feathers. Two of them were boys, but they were the sweetest chicks and don't mind being held. The girl, Marigold hasn't started laying yet but she is very friendly. I highly recommend this breed.

I highly recommend this breed, especially the Bantam if you want a pet and a brood hen.

I have a black bantam Frizzle hen. She is the most docile hen that we have ever had. Her feathers are super soft. I call her Doodle Bug. She comes when I call her name. The only one that does.

I've had experience with a few frizzles, and have felt the same way about each of them. I love them! They are so sweet and shy...they seem to almost prefer isolate themselves (rather than fight into pecking order).

They are quiet, too (which further leads into my shyness description) Even my frizzle rooster sounds gentle when he crows. The hens love him. I love him. And he's great at returning all that love.

I really appreciate their uniqueness...The soft curls of their fluffy feathers... they win the very cutest chicken award, in my opinion!

I hatched my two girls from eggs that were send to me by a breeder who breeds by the german standard for Bantam Frizzles. From ten eggs only two hatched, the lowest rate I ever had, but that could be just bad luck. They were cared for by my d'anvers hen Queen Mum, she has here name b/c she is a wounderful mum and was happy to raise this little chicks even when they looked different right from the start and growed much faster than her "normal" chicks. For the first month only size and feathers were unusual but the then the problems began. They are friendly but panic quite easy when something is unfamiliar. A loud motorcycle passing or a dog barking and they are upset for the next two hours. They are much bigger then the d'anvers but on the bottom of the chicken society, not only in rank but also in roost. They are the only chickens I ever had that fall from the roost and do better with a sleeping place on the earth. The feathers seem not to help in the winter, so I mad them a nice bedbox from a big shoebox with lots of straw. The feathers are a real problem. My flock is free range and the moment the temps go down and it is wet they begin to sneeze, so I have to cook tea and bring them inside. The feathers are so delicat that my little rooster ruins them in a week, so they have to wear jackets or I have to seperate the girls. A month ago the girls decided to build a nest together and set together on the nest. They have now the chicks together and seem to be very happy with the little babys, but during the broodiness they lost lots of feathers for what ever reason. I checked for bugs but they have no lice or mites or featherlings so I have no idea what happend. Now that the chicks are hatched the feathers start to grow back.
Besite this they are great layers for a bantam and layed even throught the winter and I think in a rooster-free flock with other calm breeds like cochin they would do great and roofed run and a good insulated coop would be def. better than free range for them.
So not a breed for me.

This boy, lol He was pretty stand offish and shy for so long. When I go outside he comes running. I sit down and him and one of our polish babies are fighting for lap room. He just sits and lets me pet him, and if I stop he starts talking to me and letting me know that that's pretty unnecessary that I should go on and continue that. I love his soft ruffle feathers. i have a white Silkie and am very ,very much looking to make a sizzle baby!

I had a pair of buff frizzles, which i added to my flock of silkies. the frizzle cock, ruled the roost. The hen was so pretty. The rooster fought, and killed one of my silkie cocks, and gave the other silkie cock a brain anurisme. The silkie had to be put down. The frizzle cock, then had a harem of 5 silkies and a frizzle hen all to himself. His chicks, were pretty, and were strange looking, having silkie mothers.

I have a frizzled serama that is very friendly. I know frizzles can come in any breed, and you can find many different types of frizzles at shows.

The frizzle trait is natures way of "bedazzling" a chicken.

I Have Right Now A Young Frizzle Which Right Now I'm Not Sure If Its A Male Or A Female And Its So Beautiful!!!!! Frizzles Are A Great Show Bird Or Pet Or Both Like Mine Will Be, I Also Have A Partridge Sizzle Hen (Swiffer) And She Is One Of My Pride's And Joys Out Of About Forty Chicken including ducks and a goose ( a very loud annoying goose ).Pickles My Unknown Sex Frizzle is a beautiful baby and hopefully will be getting into the show life,when it comes to laying I cant say they are great but they are like any other chicken a okay layer but they make up for it with love and looks.

I absolutely adore my 6 Bantam Frizzled Cochin hens. They are so cut, and all they make you want to do is hug them! They make great therapy chickens, better than any other breed. I come from a family of disabled and troubled children. These birds have helped my siblings with their problems and have done an outstanding job. They are not that great of a layer, but in a flock of 44 that's not a problem for us. I highly recommend these birds!!

I think that frizzles make great pets. My few are so friendly and very cute. They love a good pat, and have a range of different personality.

The only bad thing i would say about the frizzle is its smaller eggs.

Adorable little chickens, I recently got an adolescent hen and she has a great personality, and it's really entertaining to watch her when I bring her inside, she's so curious and will try to eat everything! LOL.

I hav recently got a frizzle roo identical to the red one in the photo but he has speckled feathers on his front. He's really lively and great with my hens.

they are so cute and run around like little ninjas i really want one. go on youtube and type in kung fu rooster. it is a frizzle chasing a load of black cats. so funny

We have one black rooster and he's nothing but a show off around the hens. He is a great pet but loves crowing!

My favorite chicken! I have a red frizzle and her feathers look like they are carved wood. She's beautiful!

I've got one hen who had a couple of frizzle babies. The babies didn't make it though. My hen Carrie is lovely and very good tempered. She was the first of my flock to lay an egg.

I was thinking about getting some Salmon:/ Faverolles but not sure if these 2 types would get along. My Frizzles are 4 wks old. If they grew up together, would they get along?¿

I don't have any pros or cons yet but my one chick has been a well behaved. It is a black and white.
