Plastic 1 Quart Jar Waterer

I like this style for my birds. It can hold enough water to last all day. It doesn't use much space in a brooder. Water can be wasted when cleaning this style of dispenser. Sit them inside tiny bowls to prevent spills/mess in the coop.

I use this every time I have chicks. The design makes it easy to put rocks in it so that the chicks don't drown. It's better than using a dish-like design because there is less room for the chicks to fall in and/or drown. Chicks will poop in it, that will probably happen with all waterers and feeders, kinda inevitable.

To prevent the problem with woodchips, I just elevated the waterer on a small box, which also helped as my birds grew older. This was a life saver with ducklings as the previous waterer just got too dirty and needed refills constantly.

I stopped using this 48 hours after purchase. It is nearly impossible to get this balanced enough so it won't tip over. Heaven forbid you breathe on it, it'll fall over.
It leaks, its a bit slow, but overnight it drained and ruined the bedding in the brooder.
About every 30 minutes I would have to dig out bedding, which maybe is more of a bedding problem and less the waterer's, but it takes just a few pieces to block the water from coming out.

It doesn't take up much space, so that's a plus, and it's too small for chicks to drown in.

I like these fine. They work amazing for younger chicks (especially less than 2 weeks)

Once my seven chicks reached an older age, they started nocking it over, and drinking so much water I had to refill it 2+ times a day. I don’t mind doing that though.

One problem is shavings. If you leave it directly on top of the bedding, you will be cleaning it our 24/7. So I place it on a brick. I still clean it out a few times a day, but helps keep shavings at bay. One other problem is it can get nocked over, especially by older chicks, so I usually transition to a larger waterer when they start nocking it over. Hope this helps!

Otherwise, I think it works, and it worth it.

Good for quail and SMALL game. I would also use for chicks.

I initially got this for my quail hutch, now I use a big waterer in my quail aviary, but it is great for a small flock of quail.

If you use these, you can replace the plastic with a glass jar of you want, but glass jars are heard to clean and algee grows on glass.

With chicks only a couple days old, especially bantams, I put marbles in their water to prevent drowning.

I used these at first with my flock but they quickly began jumping on top and knocking it over. I had to change the bedding too many times needlessly. I use the bottom tray for water for newbies and when I first got my guineas with marbles but I wouldn't purchase them again.

This was the first waterer I bought when I started raising chicks. It was ok for about an hour when the first birds decided they wanted to crap in it. This design just consumes too much of ones time.

They also fall apart at times after you fill it up and pick it up without holding the bottom. Ive had just as many that don't as that do. I do not buy these any more. When I use them its only for the first few days of the birds life if absolutely necessary.

I bought this for my brooder and it worked great. Put it up on a piece of wood to keep the bedding out. First place they rooted on so got pooped on quickly. Definitely more for chicks or as an extra water source for hens. My he s enjoy knocking it over and making a mess with it if it's in the coop. I now use it out of the coop for free ranging water source and inside the coop house if we have bad weather.

These work well with a smaller number of younger chicks. With older chicks, they become a place to roost. They don't hold enough water for older chicks or a large number of them, unless you're going to be checking often and refilling it often. In addition, they do little to keep the water clean.

I use this watered and have enjoyed it. I use it for my five bantams during the winter. I have also used it for chicks.

I only have 3 or 4 chickens at a time and this is my go-to waterer. Easy to clean and change.

I purchased this waterer at my local feed store, and... it sucks! Older chicks mess in it or knock it over(my sizzle chicks flooded their pen), and younger chicks drown or get chilled unless you put marbles in it. To top it off, it breaks very easily.

It's good for small breeds but for just hatched chickens... oh no! That's a NO NO. I tried on my baby chicks and they all got so wet, that they just made a mess and they were so cold I have to remove the water and allowed them to get dry. I think is good like for 4 to 5 weeks old chicks.

Raising chicks they're pretty good. One will find themselves having to make arrangements using these within brooders/coops as they are very, very easy to tip over. Summers are fine, winter you may as well just smash them and get it over with as every one I've ever had has cracked from the cold.
