To answer your questions. Yes it is very possible that she could have blue or black babies. Your does siblings were all white, because when you breed REW to REW you always get REW. Also I have 3 does who have raised 10+ kits. One just raised 12 successfully. Never lost 1. However it is common...
I have 36 chickens and 5 ducks on the same coop so I hope the garbage can will be great because it will have time to fully ferment in the cooler temps. Hopefully I can get my husband to help me make one. :)
I LOVE this idea! I wonder if with 3 openings on the bottom for feeders with a large garbage can, plastic of course. My concern is the lid doesn't seal completely on top... maybe that would be a good thing? inside the coop I'm thinking the natural heat of the fermenting process might be enough...
Yikes! I've not been pecked in the eye but I had a close call when my young buff orpington was hanging out on my shoulder and decided that my eyelashes might taste good. Luckily she just got the eyelash scared me pretty bad though!
Wonderful. I imagine a duck would be the same? Actual skin contact would have to happen for them to be shocked? We may do some of this around the property line, at least on that side. Our other neighbors are wonderful wonderful.
I agree. I hate tie outs, while I have had to use them in the past I have never left my dog out on a tie out for more than an hour or so while I cleaned or was airing out the house. I think they should only be used temporarily and never as a means of permanent confinement.
I have been thinking...
Our new neighbor brought a dog along. He is on a tie out with a doghouse most days, however we were woken up at 2:30am to the dog barking louder than usual. Luckily we got there in time. The dog had slipped his collar off and was going after our rabbits (we have a rabbit tractor that we keep...
Single comb the only significant difference that i have noticed between either my australorps or my Jersey giants and the mystery girl is the foot color, I'll take a closer look in the morning and see if I see any other differences.
Ok so I purchased three Jersey giant chicks back in march, two are consistent with black Jersey giants. Black light brown eggs and yellow (bottoms) feet. The other is black with black legs and BLACK feet (bottoms) anyone have any idea what she is? I will try to past pictures within a few days...
While we are on the subject of nzw genetics. I am new to rabbits, and am hoping someone can help me out. We had our first litter last week, we also have some babies from the same pair that we got when we bought the parents. The dame is NZW and the sire is broken but his markings are grey/faded...
Well....I think I maybe heard a different duck quacking because I heard the traditional male sound today and he is getting some green on his head so boy! Question answered...
Ok so I have several Indian runners and 1 of my black juvenile runners has a drake feather... And quacks. It doesn't have the green tinting on the head my drake has. So male or female?
We haven't had any issues since we killed the raccoon and reinforced the run. We have 3 hens laying right now! Hopefully the rest will start to lay soon!
Thanks! It was huge and obviously well fed. I would have understood if it was skinny and only killed one. But that was uncalled for! We haven't had any problems since. :)
And no we don't lock them up. There isn't much ventilation in the coop at the moment and we are thinking of getting a trail camera or maybe borrowing a friends trailcam. The gap was only about 2inches but when we pushed on it it streched about 6 to 8 inches. The coop doors have a tunnel so that...
