    What makes the best broody nest?

    A dark place, where they can be alone, but have access to food and water, works well for me. But then again I have little old english hens usually sitting on the eggs so I don't know if it might be different for silkies.

    I'm pretty sure the really dark coloured eggs are Marian's or wellsummer. And the olive coloured eggs are olive eggers

    when do I cut chicken toe nails

    I always give my birds a wide are to free range in outside with grass and dirt. But I got here from a poultry auction and I could tell she was a caged bird and they did not take care of her very well. Because her nail was growing sideways and also making her toe go that way to so I had to cut it.
