Not sure where you are located in the low country, I am in Jasper Co....we have Wheaten Ameraucanas which are a Ramey line. Some lay light blue and some lay light green...we have chicks available anyway from these birds if you are interested in chicks.
I think that is good advice. I have 6 girls so I do not know who has laid this eggs and need to see what else I get from the rest. I do have one hen that has black in her neck feathers that I am going to watch.
My biggest concern was not that my wheatens are laying green eggs but that I received and incubated very pretty light blue eggs and this first egg laid was green not blue. Though my hens look very nice I wonder what is going on.
I appreciate the input on the eggs color. If I purchased Ameraucana eggs and they came the color I got yesterday from my hen I would assume I has Easter Egger eggs, I was just hopeful with all the time I have in these hens that maybe I had over looked some starting point in eggs color from my...
No, they are not OE but thank you on that. The look Wheaten and blue Wheaten but obviously have something else going on there. I know what line they are and the person I got them from said she did not mix them with anything but that one persons line so something else is coming out.
Just a question for those of you who have had Ameraucanas for a while. I purchase Wheaten Ameraucana eggs that were a beautiful light blue and hatched them and got 6 pullets. One pullet just started laying, finally...question is this first eggs is not blue at all it is very green. Will they...
I am very sorry you have to deal with this! I do not know why their vision would be affected but hopefully they will get better and be able to see enough to eat and drink. Finger crossed they get better for you!
I know this is not a chicken subject but hopefully people will not mind....We have some Lionhead cross bunnies for sale. Some have very nice fluffy heads, colors are white, fawn and black. We are outside Savannah and asking $15 for the non-fluffy ones and $20 for the nice fluffy headed ones...
We are selling our Adrian Rademacher line of single comb RIRs. We have one rooster, one hen and 6 pullets if there is anyone in South Carolina or Georgia interested as we do not ship.
Anyone looking for a small flock of Heritage Single Comb Rhode Island Reds? We are selling ours--They are Adian RadeMacher Line and very nice birds. We have the rooster, one hen and 6 pullets. We are just outside Savannah. PM if interested.
Guys, remember not everyone who is a breeder of quality chickens invites people to see their birds. We do not invite people here for a number of reasons but the biggest is bio-security of our birds.
I want to share our beautiful birds here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina....
Yes, we have our RC and SC birds together at this time. We are wintering them together and surprisingly they are getting along great! And loving a very nice fall temperature day!
Several things could be in play here...were the eggs from young pullets? Are they birds she has hatched from very closely related stock, ie brother and sisters? What was the health of the laying hens? Now the feathered legs do not show up because of molting, they show up due to genetics...
Sad to say but the dog probably needs to go. If it is that determined it will come back. Even if chained they seem to get loose and remember where that chicken dinner is....I am very sorry about your chickens and hope you can keep the rest safe.
