My BIL has some EEs that are just over a year old. One hen was laying in the run. She couldn't use her left leg. When food was thrown out, she sorta flopped her way over to it and ate. Her crop seemed swollen.
He's pretty minimalist so he culled her. Apparently, this is the second one to...
Wyandotte....I should have known. lol
I'm glad that white one is an EE, I'm hoping he becomes the reigning lord of the chickens.
Now I need to look up Vorwerks.
This one has always been smaller than the rest of the chicks but not quite as small as a bantam.
It's the chicken in the back, I just threw this one on here to show the size difference. It has really nice lacing, let me know if you need better pics.
Help me identify these packing peanuts and "Free Rare Breeds" that came with my chicks.
They are 6-7 weeks old. I have 3 chickens in question and will make a new post for each one. THANKS!!!!!
This one I have no idea what the breed or sex is. It has no tail feathers. Well, not big ones...
There's no way I can figure out the genetics so I'm relying on the generocity of you smarter chicken breeders.
I have just hatched eggs from an ee hen and a dominicker roo. The hatched out either black or yellow. Are they sex-linked?
This morning there was a Cooper Hawk (I'm almost positive) on the top beem of the run!
I only have it covered with cheep black netting. We are moving so I don't want to change it. Will it try to get through the netting. WIll it get tagled and frustrated and go away? Will is get tangled...
My humidity ran high the whole time. about 75% was normal for me, it would go from 65%-80% though. (At 80% I would take a cork out to bring it back down)
Went on lock down today!
I had a terrible hatch last time and am hoping for a good one this time. I started with 14, dropped one at day 10. and one was not developed the other day...maybe day 15 or 16. So 12 on loack down. Looking forward to the week. I have a good feeling aobut these...
Don't jump on me about selling chickens when you don't know what's going on. People sell chickens all the time. I didn't say I was going to drive them to the country and let them go or just stick them in the coop and see what happens. There are plenty of people who would be glad to take these...
I have 4 week old blue/splash marans that I'd really like to move outside. First I'm sick of having chicks in the house. SEcond they are getting crowded in there and third, I have new eggs dut to hatch on Wednesday. (What was I thinking doing two hatches so quick??)
Anyway the high is in the...
I have 4 week old blue/splash marans. One has crooked toes. She walks fine and seems normal. Is this a problem? Does it mean I've done something wrong?
I've hatched and raised chicks before. They are in a large plastic tote with pine shavings for bedding. Eating Medicated Chick starter...
