    For the record I've been shutting off the lights at night since I posted this thread. They lose their minds for 5 minutes or so and then go to bed. They whine a little bit less each night.

    Well its not a heat lamp, its just a red fluorescent bulb to give them some light. And they are about 2 weeks old.

    I've got an ecoglow, so the chicks are using that for a heat source. But is there a certain time when I should begin turning the red lamp I have off at night so that they can get used to dark time?

    Got mine today! I was shocked when I got a call from the postal distribution center asking me if I wanted to pick my chicks up today. I had no idea they were working on easter.

    They're here! Got a call from the postal distribution center today asking if I wanted to come pick them up rather than them having to sit on the dock overnight. Got them into the brooder and they all seem to be happy. Some are hanging out under the ecoglow, but most have been pecking at the food.

    Just got the notification that my baby chicks shipped from McMurray today. Although they won't be delivered until Monday. Will they be okay with the extra day's lag due to the Holiday? Are there any extra precautions I should take?
