    Hen eating her eggs

I am happy to report that my Easter Egger now has hard shells and not eating her eggs. I believe that by not giving them extra scraps etc. as what was suggested their food is healthier. I do have one of the babies that has plucked feathers on her back side but I believe its all because of...

    Hen eating her eggs

Now this makes sense to me, the feed store did say that this feed was enough for their diet. I thought I was enhancing their diet by adding things. Maybe I'll just continue feeding this way and cut out all other stuff until the bags are gone then I'll do the other that's even cheaper anyway.

    Hen eating her eggs

Wonderful, thank you too for your response. I'm feeling a lot better cause this I can do...who knew that the feed store telling me that this is all I need to feed the birds wouldn't work. Living and learning. Judy

    Hen eating her eggs

I have a Buff Orpington & an Easter Egger they were laying fine except the EH egg was always odd shaped and with a thin shell, because I felt I enjoyed the chickens I got 3 babies(Welsummer & a Delaware), I merged them into the flock, one ended up being a Rooster so I found a bird store that...

    Merging chickens

Thank you so much for your response...last night I just opened the other coop door and allowed them to use both coops and they slept 2 & 2. Nobody was out in the open fenced in area so I'm happy with that, I just thought that they would like each other by now. The babies (4 mo) hang together and...

    Merging chickens

I have an Easter Egger that has stopped laying after I found she was eating her egg. I put golf balls in the nesting box, the Buff Orpington is still laying one per day. I've merged two babies so now I have four hens, do they take a long time to get comfortable with the pecking order? Also, the...

    Egg without a shell

Easter Hen hasn't laid an egg for three days and today it was shelless & kind of firm. I opened it and there was an egg/sack within an egg/sack. The inner egg was mucus green no yoke. I guess I'm glad she passed it cause it could have bound her up. She is not acting normal, ever sense the...

    Egg without a shell

My Buff Orpington laid an egg without a shell, is it edible? My Easter Egger laid an egg at the same time with extra shell. Is something wrong? I did just merge 3 babies into their coop? Judy
