Is it OK to feed shelled pinenuts?

I'm a waste not, want not kinda girl and I have found a big bag of pinenuts in my pantry which are starting to get a little rancid. A little rancid, not moulding. Is there any reason not to feed it to the girls a little a day until they're all gone?

When I saw the title to this post--I thought you were crazy for wanting to feed pinenuts to chickens--now I get it, lol. Go ahead, I don't see a problem.
