Hi. This was a sad day one of my chickens died . I was hoping to revive her- no luck. It started out that she had a limp. And progressively got worse. When I checked on her this morning her calm was dark red and she seem to be very slow and uncomfortable. After returning home from work I found...
Hi!
I feel so stupid because I added Three more new happens to my flock wow two of my favorites are molting for the first time. I had no idea you weren't supposed to do this. Is it advise that I separate the chickens or just let them go through the rough transition of becoming a new flock?
Great advice . I did not see any other open cuts. My only fear is she won't ever pick up her head again . She has not moved much at all .
Should I keep the wound covered? It's hard to since its on her neck.
Will see lay agin ?
I have a 2 year old black start. Attacked last night by something.
Does not seem to have a broken beck since it is drinking but has a large wound on her neck. Not sure what to do.
I cleaned it with a diluted solution of peroxide and put in neoapourin. Covered wound.
Do I have to cull her...
I spent time with the birds today and caught one hen sneezing and they all seem to have to spotting on thier combs. Please advise on treatment of pox.
Also, I hear of vacinations but that's too late right ?
My two younger and smaller chickens have some issue with thier combs. They are definitely bloody possibly from the other girls picking on them. I want to confirm that it is not fowl pox which is something I gave heard about. [/IMG]
Hi there,
Thus week I added new bird to my flock. I added 2 black stars that are about 6-8weeks. I have three Rhode Island res girls that are 1 year or so. The older ladies are super mad and making so much noise that I am afraid the nieghbors will complain.
Today I moved the little new ones...
I introduced 2 new chickens to the flock and boy did I make my ladies really mad. They have been yelling and clucking non stop since then. It has to stop before a nieghbors gets me in trouble.
Please please help before I get in trouble!
This is what my Rhode Island red does in the am. It is so loud! It starts about 7am. I am sure the nieghbors don't like it. What can I do toe train them to not do it.
When I go down there and love on them and see what's going on they seem to quiet up a bit.
We built our coop ourselves out of repurposed wood. We build it according to what space we had in our suburbia home. It is a two level coop with the bottom level leading out to the run.
