    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

Final update. No other eggs have hatched. My one lonely Buff will go out to a friends farm and into her brooder with other chicks of the same age.

Here is a picture of the two babies together. A 4 week old sex link mix and a 4 day old Buff Orp.

    power outage

It is more damaging the longer the egg has been incubating. You should be okay. Next time I'd say keep a quilt nearby and wrap that baby up to hold the heat in. I lost heat on my 18th day for 2 hours. My temps dropped down to about 94. I wrapped up the incubator and still had a 75% hatch rate...

    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

The two seem to be getting along fabulously now. Kinda like the Tom and Jerry cartoon where the little dog is running around the bulldog hopping up and down and calling "Spike"! The older chick even cuddled the little one under it's wing last night. Sweet.

    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

Nothing yet. No peeps. Nothing. I moved another chick I hatched (4 weeks old) in with my lone chickie. I think the 4 week old is terrified to death of the baby since the baby is chirping at the top of her lungs. I need to figure out how to upload a video. It is so funny to see. The big chick...

    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

Thanks. I'll add water to the second reservoir. I'll need to open it though as the new chickie only seems comfortable in there. I tried moving her to the brooder, but she didn't like being alone. As soon as I popped her back into the incubator she went right back to sleep.

    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

Thank you for the reply. I have a thermometer and a hygrometer (?spelling) in there. It is a forced air incubator with a thermostat. The internal thermometer has been reading 99.5 from day 1, unless I opened the lid to rotate the eggs, then it dropped for a couple of minutes until I put the...

    Reasons for eggs not hatching???

In your experience, why would an egg not hatch? I have 10 Buff Orp eggs in my incubator, on day 17 I did a final weigh and candling before lock down. Everything looked great, I even saw a few of them moving in the shell. On day 20 one hatched, but nothing since. Today (Tuesday) is day 21...

When can I introduce new chickies?

I am no expert either, but it is good to hear someone else in the same boat with a positive result.

When can I introduce new chickies?

I incubated and hatched out 8 babies. I gave 5 to a friend (with more space) and kept 3 to add to my flock. My current hens are about a year old, my newest are 4 weeks and nicely feathering out. I would like to move the chickies in to the hen house as our temperatures are very mild and they...

5 baby chicks looking for a new home - in Northwest Florida

Pensacola, but they are currently pending.

    Question on feathering out....

When a baby chick's wings start to feather out (in the first week)... do they primary wings start coming in quicker on a roo or is it the same for a rooster and a hen? I have a couple of chicks whose primary feather have really come in within the first 3 days and wondered if it is a sign of a...

5 baby chicks looking for a new home - in Northwest Florida

Would love to, but we don't have the space for that many chicks. I only got extra eggs because I wasn't sure what my hatch rate would be since it was my first time. Turned out... my hatch rate was fantastic!

Looking for opinions on what could happen...

Adding photos of my two 2nd generation sex links. They are 1 day old. Mother was a black sex link, father could be lavendar orp, blue orp, or white rock. What do you think????? I know, I know... kinda hard to tell.

Can I get some more opinions on my day old Barred Rock?

I have two chicks that are 2nd generation sex link, black sex link mama and blue or lavendar orp papa... I wonder if this would work on my 2???

Can I get some more opinions on my day old Barred Rock?

Is that because of the stripes on the eyes? I got the eggs from a chicken farm that has both Barred and Aussie... wonder if someone had a hot date with the mailman.
