Wow?! Seriously?!!!! Here something like that would be at least $100 or even more at a craft sale. Maybe a swap meet is different than one of those? More like a flea market here? You should make an apron to hold chicks or small chicks while moving them around - keep your arms free to...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Not to worry, I learnt my lesson the first time I was kicked by a horse and had hardware like that in my forearm. I had to plates and screws removed as they were irritating my tendons. Now I have a lovely scar the chickens like to investigate. Those wee demons are always curious about anything...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I lock them out for at least half an hr in the afternoon when I am home, but it’s been so hot and humid, they get overheated fretting. So as soon as they get anxious I let them come back in. They just want to sit in my lap and snuggle. Or the nest box…… brats that’s what they are!

    This chicken is not dead

The GM Peter, at Sears called me one day to say he was watching my horse on the barn cam and she hadn’t moved in 20 minutes. This was waaaay back in 2002-ish when cameras were new, I didn’t have high speed so I set mine to take a photo every 15seconds and send to my website. Seems that my...

That’s what I did with my silkies and my friends Roo Teddy. I think it’s three weeks for the Roos semen to leave their system before you get the correct Roo to breed them.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Don’t count on it! Clyde favourite ladies are Patches and Silver bird. Both are bigger than he is, I think he has been able to breed them. Mr LC I am not so sure about. I feel like a voyeur trying to get a peak to see if he can ‘get the job done’. Meanwhile, Mrs LC can’t stand him and only...
