One Direction!! Any "Directioners" out there??

Best not to tell folks to stay off the thread. Maybe a better place for this one would be Games, Jokes and Fun anyway.

    Political Ramblings

From the BYC rules: Quote: Would be nice to have ONE... SINGLE... PLACE to go without having to see political discussions. There are lots of places on the net for that, FB, Twitter, etc, etc, etc. Backyard Chickens.com used to be much more homey, I'm told. Sounded nice to me.

    Plymouth Rock thread!

She's pretty! I agree with speckledhen. Barred Rocks are awesome and don't have to be show quality to be wonderful birds.

    Is my chicken a rooster?

That one has pullet coloring. Even a five or six week old Dellie male has a MUCH larger comb that this one. Even the tail says pullet. Delawares mature earlier than other breeds.

Where were you when the world stopped turning? Remembering 9.11.2001

There is more than one stereotypical way to feel about this event. It's disrespectful to pigeonhole every person's feelings into one certain way to look at it and gang up on them if they don't see things the same way as you do. speckledhen is entitled to her opinion as well as anyone else...

I'll have a moderator move this to the proper section so you'll get answers more effectively.

when do orpingtons reach full size

A breeder quality Orpington rooster will not reach full size until he's almost two years of age. Hatchery birds don't take that long because they rarely reach the size of the breeder birds.

the neighbors dog killed one of my hens!

Exactly. Dogs don't just jump, they climb. Many dogs can scale an 8 ft fence without much trouble by jumping as high as they can and climbing the rest of the way.

anybodys chickens died because they ate their poop

I'm not speckledhen, but yes, I'd say areas that are prone to high humidity/dampness are more prone to outbreaks of coccidiosis.

MO woman faces charges over dogs

It is a common misconception that there are no leash laws in the country. Some local areas may not have them, but the state does most of the time. It's a rare place where there truly is no leash law at all. Most say that a dog must be under the control of its owner at all times when off the...

MO woman faces charges over dogs

I agree 100%. The breed of the dog is irrelevant. Little dogs can kill chickens as well as large ones can.

Roo has purple comb, is lethargic and wheezing

Is it really hot today there? I'm really sorry, first of all, but some birds have issues with the heat. Could have been many things, with heat making it worse. One of my own roosters has a serious issue with heat and loses his own breath, turns dark in the comb, etc.

    Favorite Bible verses?

I like the ones that proclaim the deity of Jesus Christ plus the ones that actually apply to us in the age of Grace rather than the Jews under old Testament Law. John 1 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God...

    Mortgage relief... yeah right...

Thank goodness we went into voluntary poverty and moved to a small house, two steps backward from where we were, and cut out tons of stuff. Now, we are poor, but we're in better shape than many.

Any BYC Christians? Post here!-Please heed Admin Warning in First Post

Dates are interesting, however, it's the person and character of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Preserved Word that should always be the main focus. And I'm sure SpeckledRoo would agree 100%. Psalm 12:6 has this to say about how He would always preserve His Word: The words of the LORD are pure...

Black Sex Link males are completely different than the females. They all look like badly barred Barred Rocks.

    Australorps vs Dominiques

I agree. For a very cold climate, the Dominiques would work better, just thinking of the frostbite factor.
