I had a cross beak that did very well. I didn't do anything special for him, because I feed FF to all and he had no trouble eating it. We had a dog attack that got him.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Dear Bee, I am SURE you can teach some things. Two years ago I read your blog about your flock, and have been following along since. (and feed FF) Many others also have profited from your information I'm sure! As far as the ones that don't appreciate it, maybe you're just not saying what...

I have one Blue Partridge Silkie breeding pair. Since I have only the one pair I could only ship a limited number on eggs.

    The Buckeye Thread

Generally, when first hatched, baby chicks need to be kept at 95 degrees and decrease the temperature by 5 degrees per week. You should not plan to put them outside for a while yet. You should be ok with the turkey starter. There is a lot of information freely available, including tons of info...

Nice! It is a good thing to have a standard bred chicken that has good utility too!

Rare chicken breeds desired for their meat qualities?

If it started suddenly, something may have scared him or caused him to become defensive. I have had good results by confining them for a while and picking them up often and he only gets to eat when you are touching him. You can generally get ahold on them at night best. Also some will go...

    The Buckeye Thread

I did a lot of research before getting my Buckeyes. So just my personal humble opinion I would rate the quality of current lines: 1) Shumaker 2) Lay 3) McCary My Buckeyes are Lay line. Which is the one line that I know of bred for SOP and for production.

I follow the FB group for Upstate SC Poultry but also York SC Chicken and Livestock. The NC thread on BYC keeps pretty busy.

I usually write Fragile, Perishable, and EGGS. I don't use overly intelligent $20 words like "live embryo" I like to keep it to simple everyday words that postal workers already have a definition for. The first two they actually have stamps for stamping pacages. Fragile - this can...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Fermented food does not cure or completely stop cocci, but it helps to discourage it in the same way as ACV does. About feeders that was a stumper for me too. @Beekissed posted a very good and simple feeder in a previous thread...
