Happy to report all went well and they all seem to be very happy! Although the little ones wouldn’t go into the coop themselves last night and I had to physically put them in there.
Yes they sleep in the large tote attached to the crate. No heat lamp. There is a large coop and covered run and then attached fenced yard they have access too. I think it’s time to let them out also. Thank you!
Are my pullets big enough to put in with my three full-size hens now? They have been in this dog crate right in with the other chickens for the last few weeks. They are about nine or 10 weeks old now. They have been out in the yard with the other hens several times and I haven’t seen too much...
Solar kit For incubator warehouse auto coop door . We ran electricity to my coop so we no longer need the solar kit. One older battery and a brand new one included. $50 plus shipping
3 adult female chickens in need of rehoming... one Easter egger around 2 years old and 2 Rhode Island reds around 3 years old.
I have an unopened bag of layer pellets and 2 bags of wood shavings that you can have if you take them too!
Thank you
As it turns out, she has water belly as did my other barred rock that we had to cull last month. I was able to drain a lot of fluid from her and she seems more comfortable now.
So I didn’t realize I should be worming all my chickens on a regular basis. I am still fairly new to keeping chickens. I put some diatomaceous earth in their feed so let’s hope that helps her. Thank you!
My barred rock has been kind of listless the past few days and walking around with her tail feathers down. She’s moving around very slowly, but still eating. She also has greenish droppings that gets caked on her bum and I have to wash her daily. I felt inside the vent to see if I could felt...
Both of my barred rocks have this bare redness on their chest/backends. Is this normal or not? I will post photos below. This one looks a little worse than normal because Her feathers are wet since I just had to give her a bath and cut a few feathers to get a large ball of poop off her bum.
Yes they each have about 12.5 sqft to themselves in the run and 3.5 sqft in the coop. Also access to the chicken yard most of the time. I don’t think space is the issue. She has not been picked on for the past 1.5 years, this seems to be just because of the molting.
I am in Western Pennsylvania. Here are photos of my coop and run. We have a fenced chicken yard that they are out in when we are home. And a coop that is 24 sqft with attached enclosed run that is approximately 90 sqft. 7 chickens.
I do have a large dog crate I could put her in. Should I let her go into the coop with them at night? Or is it okay for her to sleep out in the crate? She is my most skittish and hard to catch except after dark.
I don’t have a very big run/coop and only have 7 chickens which makes separating within the run difficult. How long should she be separated for? Until all her new feathers come in? I never noticed her getting picked on before, it’s strange that it would be happening now :( I hope once her new...
My easter egger seems to be molting, but I noticed the new tail feathers coming in seem to be bloody. Is this normal looking? I’ll post photos below. I did notice one of our barred rocks give her a peck a few days ago, so I separated her overnight and pulled the bloody feathers as I thought they...
Thank you! I believe she is molting. Yesterday I pulled the 2 broken blood feathers and put pick-no-more cover up lotion on her backend and put her back in the run. I watched for a while and no one pecked at her. I bet the barred rock was just pecking because of the blood that had come from the...
Ok. She did stop laying a few weeks ago too. Do you think I should pull the broken blood tail feathers and put her back in with the group? I’m worried she will continue to be picked on
