ok that is ultimately what i'm looking for will they hatch as well. we are not worried on the sexing part as much as our kids just enjoy it and then we give away whatever we don't want.
ok so simply when bred you are not aware of what sex they are. However then for what purpose do people use a sex link rooster? if any? sorry if this is a dumb question
We are attempting to hatch birds from our first flock. We have a rir rooster. Delaware hens, barred rock, rir & New Hampshire hens.
We understand all of these will create a red or black sex link with the rir rooster and rir hen will obviously be a rir. However what happens then when we breed...
Help our chickens appear to have a severe disease. The rooster is the worse. Comb is all messed up and almost looks like legions on the comb and face. Any help is appreciated. Also appears a bunch of tail feathers are gone on rooster. How do we treat?
Never had sick chickens before. we have 12 in our coop & run. Plenty of space, but tons of rain up here in PA. Chickens are about 21 weeks old and are coughing. Rooster hasn't crow'd correctly in 2-3 weeks and is now almost non existent. a few of the chickens seem to wheez a bit. I can't...
So we are trying to hatch our 1st batch from the chickens in our coop. We aren’t sure what kind of hens we have and what we will get from the hatch. We definitely have a Nice Rhode Island Red Rooster, but what are our hens? And what will we get when bred with our rooster?
THanks for the reply.
I think I’m going to just 1/2 fill 1 channel for incubation. Then fill all 6 the last 3 days or try to get it around 70%. If I’m at 62% with 2 channels that will be about best I can do anyways.
Thoughts?
As stated I did put in another thermostat and humidistat.
I am hearing so many things in humidity. Some say 30% some say 60-65. I wish there was a good source???
I don’t think getting it to 30% is even possible though. I only put water now in 2 channels and I’m still at 62%
I think I made a rookie mistake. I purchased a little giant 11300 incubator with fan and egg turner. I filled the water tray at bottom and added a hygrometer thermometer inside on top of the egg turner to measure temp and humidity.
Should I have added Water right away? And should I have...
