So I hatched some mixes! These two are mixed with a Plymouth partridge rock hen
and a EE rooster.
I just figured they would look something like the mom or dad as chicks.
Mom as a chick
Mom as an adult
Dad as a chick
Dad as adult
They look more like my welsummer and speckled Sussex...
Thanks all! Yeah it was my first hatch so when things went wrong I instantly go through everything I could have done differently. But you're right, I couldn't have done anything differently. Live and learn I guess

Thanks. Yeah it died. I opened it up more and found it hadn't absorbed its guts/yolk yet. I'm thinking the one that hatched earlier knocked it too much and maybe smashed it. It wasn't ready to hatch.

Checked on eggs and saw this.
It's day 22 and my chicks seem to be hatching now. One came fully out this morning and two others have externally pipped

Pretty sure I have a boy and a girl. The head hair, leg size, body size are different between the two. They are about 2 months now.

They are extra fluffy and have fuzzy 5 toes. No clue how old. You can see that square of tissue paper for comparison. From what I've read it's hard to tell gender with this breed.
Anyone have a clue? Or do I need to wait to tell and if so how long? Any help would be appreciated.

Idk if they are his favorites exactly but he's always on top of the ladies ever time I turn around. He's a young guy too. Their skin looks fine and not irritated where the feathers appear disheveled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went out of town for two days and came back to this mountain of gold! From my 20 week RIR, RIW, and Partridge Plymouth Rock hen.

I'm curious as to what this white thing is that is on the egg. Are they fertilized or not? I have a rooster, so I know it's a possibility.

About 15 weeks.
I'm thinking hen considering the small comb but it walks and looks so different than the other ladies.
Thanks
