    Quails

my incubator has a plastic mesh floor it does have small square holes but the day I take the rack out I put down paper towels so their feet do not go through. I do not believe they are imbred, I get all my eggs from a licensed breeder. He said he thought they could just be hatching too early...

Y yes, a little more. I left them all in incubator about 8 hours after hatching to make sure they were good and dry. I don't understand why I'm getting 1 out of every hatch like this.

    Quails

thank you Binki. I have to reup on feed this weekend, I will definitely be looking for a higher protein. I noticed however, I use same kind of starter but each bag I buy is different % in protein. One was 18%, one was 20% and had one 21%. I found that weird.

    Quails

I'm feeding them a 18% protein chick starter and a scratch feed that has laying mash, cracked whole wheat, sunflower, flint corn, and soy bean oil. So, should I change up the scratch feed with some that has no corn? I did not know that about corn. Thank you so much for that info.

    Checking in

Thank you cavemanrich. I think we are just going to raise them to eat and keep some hens and a few rooster. I didn't think they could fly but we moved them to the bigger cage when they were 4 weeks old and when I raised the lid on small cage one flew out and hit me in the head lol.

    Help quails losing feathers

Another question guys and gals... I know most birds have to have gravel to help digest their food, do my Coturnix quail who are now 2 weeks old need gravel in their cages? If so, at what age do I start putting gravel in cages?
