It wouldn't be a BC post without a poop pic lol.
I'll see if her poop still looks like this, but yesterday I caught two of her poops- one was watery mucus with mostly white, no brown. The other one was watery with green semi-solids in it.
I have a chicken who I think may have cocci and I am treating her for it. 2 days ago she seemed a little sluggish, I figured it was the heat and put some NutriDrench in the coop water. Yesterday, she was worse- not moving much, not eating or drinking without encouragement, and droopy.
I've...
My best guess is that a baby bird (it was teeny and still translucent) fell out of our tree and my chicken found it and ate it! Of course as soon as I realized what it was (my daughter said " Lucy what's in your mouth?" and honestly I thought it was a worm until I saw a beak) she swallowed it...
We have hardware cloth buried 12 inches down on 3 sides of our coop. We dont know how to get hardware cloth to protect this gap between the coop and the fence.
Could we do something else? Pavers or rocks in the gap? Concrete floor? Do the hardware cloth another way?
This is technically part...
Thank you both! It's so hard when you are new to something and don't know what you don't know.
I went ahead and cleaned the brooder/washed everything/added treated water to their feeder, so hopefully things will start improving.
I am picking up a large animal cage today so we can give them...
Thanks!
I think I will treat them just in case.
So the protocol is Corid for 5-7 days without electrolytes, and then how many days of electrolytes to restore the vitamin deficiency? Are there certain electrolyte brands I should use?
Yeah I had a feeling the brooder was getting too small. No...
My chicks are 3 weeks old.
One had what I thought was intestinal lining shedding.
One had some watery poops yesterday but I also saw a few normal ones (not sure if it's the same chick with the shedding).
They all seem normal, active/eating/drinking.
I'm getting mixed reviews as to if I...
So earlier I posted about finding some reddish stuff in my chick's poop. I also posted it in a local chicken FB group and they said the same thing- intestinal lining shedding.
But someone also piped up and said I should be more worried about the "foamy" poop next to it, and said I should use...
I don't know if this is normal or not. My daughter just came hollerin' that there was blood in the poop.
The Goog tells me it could be cocci or just normal intestinal shedding.
My chicks have never been outside, but are not on medicated feed (as far as I can tell).
Thank you!
We have 4 2-week old chickens; this is our first experience with them. We have a Buff Orpington, RIR, Easter Egger, and a Golden Sex Link. And while we thought we wouldn't get attached, here we are. We lost our littlest chick yesterday and it completely devastated us. We still don't know how or...
