So basically I have 13 chickens, 4 adults and 9 three month olds. They're seperated but anyways these people down the street from us came by with a chicken they thought might be ours. She wasn't, but they didn't have anything to take care of her with so we took her. They called animal control...
My chicks are three weeks old and I took them outside for the first time today. They ate grass and clovers, so should I give them grit or should they be alright?
Not sure what breed this is, they have red patches on their head and two red stripes down their back along their wing lines. Any ideas on what the breed is? I'm thinking golden buffs but I'm not sure
Thanks everyone so much for the information! And thanks for posting the videos hokum! Hopefully I can convince the family that getting pigeons is worth it, beautiful birds jack thanks for sharing the pictures. :)
That sounds awesome, pretty bird by the way. What a great way to bond with your granddaughter, if y'all are that close I don't think she'll leave you in her teenage years. :) Thanks for the information though I really want pigeons but live in a residential area. This is probably a dumb question...
I've been having the same problem with my reds, they just seem to be aggressive with other breeds. Might look into getting peepers for her, I've heard of them working. Maybe it would be best to get rid of her if separating her for 1-2 weeks has proven ineffective already.
I currently have four chickens, seven more on the way but in the past year I have read a lot on pigeons and have fallen in love with them. This is actually a very broad question but if anyone has information on different raising methods and what kind of pigeons make the best pets or just stories...
Do you have any friends that could take them? If not you could buy them off your dad and pay for their food and bedding, and then they would be yours an he couldn't take them an eat them.
I originally had a flock of six, two RIRs two BAs and two buff orpingtons. We lost one of each except for the RIRs. Anyways, my chickens are partially free range, there pen is only 10x10 and I let them out when I can, but it's hard. My RIRs are incredibly mean to
the other birds, one of them we...
I've lost two chickens out of six in the last four years, but one was killed by a hawk. I don't think it's common without sickness or some sort of predator. My friend said that most people loose at least one in the first year but I think it's more predatorial than anything else. Chickens dying...
Trust me if we had a gun the hawk would be dead, it's been flying around the neighborhood driving me insane. The rest of the chicks will definitely be staying in for a while, hey just get very mean to each other and my buff is always the one picked o the most. Thanks for the advice :)
New to the site but my chickens were just attacked by a hawk. We lost one of our six earlier on the winter naturally but we just lost another to the attack. Initially we thought the hawk had somehow gotten three but we found two under a wooden board alive. They all seem very shaken up and now...
