Me too! My grandmother has a story of a rooster who froze to the ground and they brought him inside, warmed him up, and he was fine. I met him when I was a kid, he was a trooper for sure haha
My smallest gosling managed to get out of their outdoor brooder, and we didn't find her for a few hours because of a bad rainstorm. We found her covered in mud, so we gently rinsed her with warm water as best we could and tried to wipe off her beak. She ate some water soaked food, but I noticed...
Thankfully she's back to moving her leg and it seems fully healed, I'm really glad she's doing ok. I did end up taking her into the vet and they set the bone and gave me some antibiotics in case of any infection
Our brooder is on a table about 3 feet off the floor, and that's where she fell. I've moved the brooder and fixed it so there's no chance it can happen again, but thankfully the baby is doing amazing! Her leg is back in use and she's actually the most energetic out of the hatch :)
One of the chicks fell and broke her leg. It's broken up in the fluffy part, chicken anatomy diagrams say it's her thigh. It's dangling and flopping, she keeps twisting it at the break so I'm holding her. She can't seem to move that leg. No swelling that I can see, and no blood. I'm not sure...
I'm new to this so I hope I'm doing the right thing, but if not please tell me!
My first broody bird ever just hatched 4 beautiful babies! She's a pekin Swedish blue cross and she hatched 4 fine, and I had to help the last one because she kept getting up and it got shrink wrapped. She is ok...
I don't right now, I wish I did! I can't really afford another incubator right now. Any ideas if I can't manage to find one I can afford before then? This is my first duck hatch
Hello! I just noticed one of the eggs in my hatch is a chicken egg! Don't know how I missed that. Candled it, it's pretty much ready to pip internally.
It's day 22, I was going to take the eggs off the turner on Friday, which would be day 25. But this chicken egg is already a day late, so I'm...
We checked her over last night but I'll do it again in the daylight to make sure we didn't miss anything! He's definitely staying with my uncle until she's weaned and can spend her time fully outside. I'm glad to hear that goats seem to bounce back from injuries pretty well! Someone suggested...
First time goat owner here.
I need advice, Please be kind, this is a very hard experience for everyone at my home!!
My 1.5 year old GSD attacked one of my bottle baby goats, she's a little over 6 weeks old. She is alive!
Dog was immediately brought to my uncles house where he will stay...
Any ideas about what breed this bantam is? They were just sold as "bantam". Also, any ideas about if they're a pullet or cockerel? It's about 6 weeks old, and its a little feisty with the other chicks! Still very sweet, just definitely the boss.
Thanks for any help identifying this lil one!
I compared her healthy leg to her injured one and besides the foot there's no difference in color. I just want to make sure it's not infected! Her temperature seems normal too, we have a healthy sebright the same age so we've been able to kind of compare them to gauge how she's doing. I was...
"It's store policy" is some bs! My local TSC sells 4 at a time, so it's def not a company policy. And the one in the next town over from me doesn't have a minimum. Ridiculous.
Hey y'all! I made a post about the actual injury a few days ago but TLDR; we had a 2 week old sebright chick get out of the brooder in the middle of the night and land on our rats cage, and she got bit through the cage on her foot and knee/hip.
The rats have been relocated to a different room, I...
Hello everyone! I have an emergency I need fast advice for. Have a sebright chick, about 1-2 weeks old. She somehow got on top of my pet rats cage ( I am rehoming said rats now just waiting to drop them off at new home!) and one of them grabbed her leg. She isn't moving it but it's stopped...
