One of my girls has a big sore right next to her vent. Clear stuff comes out of her vent, and I have checked for a bad egg stuck in there and have felt nothing. The sore is huge, and I suspect it is from the heat and humidity up here as she has never had a clean butt area, since she was a chick...
Well she was in the coop all day yesterday and laid a shell less egg. Today she is lethargic and puffing herself up like she is brooding but I don't think that's it. The boss lady was pecking at her too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
She was eating and drinking and laid a couple of eggs, but she clearly wasn't getting any better. I took her to the Cornell duck lab in Eastport LI and had her euthanized for 10 bucks. All the other birds are fine.
she is eating and drinking and laid an egg today, i am hoping that she improves if not i will take her to a state agency here on long island to get euthanized and necropsy 70 bucks for both i will post any developments thanks for the feedback
She's not getting better and I am not taking her to a vet but I can't stand to see her suffer so we are taking her to get euthanized and a necropsy to see what was wrong with her
she might be poisoned but i have other hens and they are fine. I have her separated and she is also bobbng her head back and forth in a rhythmic fashion and then her head slowly touches the ground and then she picks it back up again oh its sad to watch
My RIR is acting really weird like she is suddenly blind or something and moving her head back and forth in a weird way. I have her separated from the flock.
I am raising 6 chicks (3 buffs and 3 dixie rainbows) and they are my babies, very docile (oops I spoiled them too late now). I had 4 adult hens- 2 mixed bantams, 1 Rhode Island Red, and 1 Plymouth Barred Rock. The 2 mixed hens were just plain mean and rotten and I got rid of them yesterday to...
omg we were at the paint store today! Too funny! We picked a blue that was in the middle in terms of dark or light for the coop, and an off white for the trim. Primed today hopefully we can start with the colors tomorrow. Good luck choosing- I really had trouble deciding which colors.
i think she got taken i cant find her anywhere. during the day i let out into a fenced in area, when i got home one was in the roost, one was in the bigger yard, and one was missing. they are about a year old- i am going to get 2 more chickens tonight from someone- do you think that is wise?
im in long island and i had 3 hens in a small coop until this afternoon. i only have 2 left will the others freeze to death tonight? i plan on getting 2 more by the weekend what should i do? i have a tarp over the coop but its just the 2 of them right now
i am thinking of building this coop and i share your concern. some people but the door on one side and the nesting boxes on the other side which is fine for me, but what about the clean out door?
