Oh the cut out is some particle board cut out from some store made for home decor. The legs broke off during move and it was just laying around. Cut the legs straight off and screwed to the coop.
Hardware cloth is in the mail! Comes this week to do the top. Its 48"x50' it was half the cost online as it was at lowes. The smaller rolls are the only ones really worth buying there. I got enough to do the vents and chicken tube today.
Hard to tell how big your gaps are for vents. There should be enough air movement in there to keep the smell down and always fresh air supply. Just be sure you use that hardware cloth. Hens from what I've seen and read (newbie here) have different preference for roost height. Some are happy a...
