from my experience you need to keep them penned where they can't fly out for like a week-just so they understand to come back home...they should take up with the chickens in coming in to roost...you could read some different posts here also google guineas and there are several websites for basic...
we have moved the eggs into the 'incubator' and so far only one has hatched completely...on has had a peep hole open all day and chirps but is not making headway...2 seem to not be moving now at all...no other movement from any that have starter cracks....does this mean that they have died...
on side and turn or narrow end down and spin around or narrow end down and flip to broad end then back to narrow??? can't seem to find a page with enough info.
thanks ya'll!
but it's like....harder...it's almost like a softer moth ball with an extra something on the side.....going to take another look at it and see if i can gather more info. i'm grossed out but intrigued.
this was laid between dusk and 11 a.m. today. what is it???!!!?

i will try to post the pic as my profile pic on here......
sorry to intrude, but can i ask if the baking thing is true for all duck eggs? mine are pekin and have just started laying this week. i am trying to get educated on them-as far as laying eggs, nesting, babies, etc. thanks!!
yes free ranging...the dog can't get to them-he's contained and seems to prefer the guinea eggs when he is loose...another story for another time, lol!
i've checked the tall grasses...never had a problem with them not layin in the coop before. i think i will try to contain them to their fenced...
heat maybe? i didn't have any issues last year with them though....stress from new "babies" getting old enough to lay too?? water is not an option between large waterer and the runoff from the central air unit they all seem to LOVE...esp. the ducks, lol. only 1 roo for all those girls, which is...
like losing their feathers molting? nope...no feather loss other than Black Betty who seems to be my roo "Speedy" favorite right now...and that is only on her back. this has been going on for most of the summer...weird.
hi! i have 3 regulars that have stopped laying. no change in food-they get pellets & free range during the day. also my spring roos started crowing last week-shouldn't the spring hens be laying now too?
