White leghorn & chick breed help

This was so helpful! We switched up her diet to limit food. She has always been the happiest, sweetest chicken who follows me around like a shadow. She’s the best layer too! She averages 5-6 eggs a week and this week gave me 2 super eggs! I’m so glad we kept her around. I swear if my husband...

White leghorn & chick breed help

She must be retaining them because she is the only chicken in the big coop. She just laid another so she’s given us 4 eggs since Saturday. 😊

White leghorn & chick breed help

Thank you for all of your responses! So we had plans to put her down Saturday and woke up to an egg! Collected it, went back outside- another egg. That evening went outside to put her up- another egg. She laid 3 eggs in 48 hours and another this morning. Is it possible she’s not a Cornish...

White leghorn & chick breed help

It makes me sad, but we are lucky that we have friends that can process her and put her to good use. I just can’t do it myself. 😫

White leghorn & chick breed help

Yes. Here she is a chick (we lost the others due to raccoon while free ranging). They grew super fast and do not go up on a perch, but like to lay in the ground.

White leghorn & chick breed help

Hi! I was told my tractor supply chick was a white leghorn but she is getting HUGE and hasn’t started laying yet (4 months old). Could she be a different breed? Also- I know my darker 2 chicks are Rhode Island reds, but any clue what the lighter 2 are and black one? Thanks so much!

    Brewers yeast recommendations?

Thank you! It was fairly simple- just some 2x4’s and a piece of plywood. A few rolls of chicken wire and done!

    Brewers yeast recommendations?

Thank you! We have plans to add a chicken wire roof and turn it into a run when they’re big enough to go outside. They are so spoiled!

    Brewers yeast recommendations?

Thank you so much! My husband builds homes so he tends to go overboard when I ask him to build me things. LOL. Ordered the brewers yeast you recommended- thanks again!

    Brewers yeast recommendations?

Hello! After a rough summer trying to hatch, I bit the bullet and purchased 5 white layer ducklings. They are now 10 days old and ADORABLE! It’s been a long time since we we had ducks, and I’m rusty. They’re on non medicated chick feed (pic attached) and have experimented with some treats-...

    Hands on hatching and help

She did pass half in her shell and half out. She was pushing to get out but couldn’t do it. I didn’t take her out to see if her yolk had been absorbed- I was afraid that if it had I would blame myself for not helping more. It’s been a rough morning. Never thought I would be so sad. :(

She didn’t make it. :( No clue what happened. Daughter and I are heartbroken.

    Help please!!!

Thank you. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Along with keeping the membrane moist with a q tip. You can see her little face and her eye is open already. Do they normally come out with their eyes open?

    Hands on hatching and help

That is helpful- thank you. I’m mostly worried about the spot she hurt her beak from pecking. I picked away around where the air sac was and the membrane is mostly clear I think. It’s hard to tell because there is blood from her beak. :(

Most recent pic. The blood is from her beak. :(

    Hands on hatching and help

Thank you so much! I did a safety hole after about 30 hours of internal pip. That seemed to help as she perked right up and pipped. She did about 3-4 external pips then just continued pecking for the past 24 hours on that one spot. She pecked that big hole on her own. When I checked on her this...

    Help please!!!

My white layer duck has been trying to hatch, but and I believe was stuck. She is on day 30. She made one huge hole but couldn’t turn to zip. When I just checked her there was blood on her beak from pecking this pointy spot in the egg. I chipped it back slightly and found she was slightly shrink...
