I recently acquired 4 ducklings from tsc, 2 pekin and 2 rouens. The 2 little pekins were both a little weak from being shipped and I lost one the first night. I could tell for sure that one was sick but the other one seemed just fine really running around with the others. Now a week later we...
When I checked on her after dinner she was actually using her legs and walking around. She did have a few piles of total liquid poop around her but she was clucking and walking about. We will see how she is in the morning and I will work on getting her some vitamins this weekend.
I don't...
She doesn't look like any of the pictures. When I went to check on her last she tried to move we legs under her which seems like an improvement from earlier.
I came home tonight to find my chicken laying on the floor of the run with her legs tense and straight pushed out behind her. SHe had been fine when I was home for lunch five hours earlier. I don't know what it could be :( After looking her over here is what is going on.
-not acting sick...
@CayuseRanch
He is a mille fleur bantam and a very aggressive little rascal I should add, which is sad cause he used to be my little darlin till he started wanted to kill me :(
My friend @Hayduke27 and I will be hatching eggs for the first time. Probably just a mix of what our flocks have to offer. Currently I have a bantam mille fleur rooster and easter egger hens. So we will just have to see what we get...

My cats name is turtle and when she was young and super skinny her nickname was turtlefat. Now she is old and has finally grown into her nickname :)
I think maybe 20-22 weeks. Yes I would say single comb. Right now it is kinda a sad little combover growing more out than up :( the farmer also said she laid blue eggs which I have yet to see. But that doesn't make sense for a blue Andalusian.
Needed a few more chickies for my flock and got these from farmer down the road. I am thinking blue Andalusian and speckled Sussex. Those are just quick guesses since I am new to the chicken world. Help from the experts would be great. Thanks
Two out of my 3 bantams have turned out to be roos already, my mille fleur and blue cochin. Now I fear that my third might be one too. Any help would be great. My little baby silkie is around 13 weeks old. My cochin started crowing about 2-3 weeks ago and my mille just started pathetically...
I love the owls. I have a pair of nesting great horned owls that live in the blue spruce trees in front of my house. Nice for me, but bad for chickens :( Good luck with your new chickens, they sure do have a sweet coop set up!
Thanks everybody. Judging by the responses I think I will stick with my original plan and do branches. I guess the worst thing that could happen is that they don't work as planned, but it's not a total fail since I didn't spend any money on them. Boards seem like an easy enough back up option...
Ha! I am the exact opposite flockwatcher. I have random thinner branches lying around that are not big enough to be made into rounds for firewood so why not use them for my coop. I am a firm believer of reuse and recycle!
