Thank you! That didn't occur to me. There was a LOT of condensation on the viewing window, so that well could have been it! Ugh, I feel like such a dolt, I was so worried about them drying out I didn't think of the opposite problem. How do you keep the humidity down after the first one...
What do you mean by messy? Poop? Mud? Are ducks particularly messy compared to other fowl? I haven't really met a farm animal yet that wasn't messy in one way or another.
No ideas? I just thought it was strange that I had 4/12 eggs pip and not zip. Seemed high to me like I did something wrong. I did open the bator, but the humidity stayed high. And the last one that pipped i DIDN'T open the bator after pipping. ::sigh:: just don't want the same thing to...
Thanks! Just hatched some of her babies from her little blue eggs out, can't wait to see what they look like! I have two roosters, one mutt (EE x Dom) and one black silkie (her father) and I have a baby from each of them it looks like. One that is black and looks almost all silkie, and one...
This young lady hatched out of blue egg, has five toes and black skin, and lays little tiny blue eggs! She has a silkie top knot and Ameraucana cheek fluffs. She's my easter egger silkie!
I think she is really adorable.
...were turned with a home made, non automatic turner in egg cartons pointy end down more than 5 times a day days 1-18. The temp held between 99-100*F the whole time. I had three hatch out fine on their own. Should I have candled on day 18 when I took them out of the cartons to be sure the...
No, the feather shafts are not falling out. The "feathery" part along the shafts have disappeared on the hard feathers. This is on old feathers, and she does have new ones coming in. I suppose it may be a molt, but not one like I have seen before. The feathers are not falling out, they are...
I have a Silver Laced Wynadotte who has a feather issue. She has all of her feathers, they aren't falling out, but the "feathery" part of them is mostly gone. The shaft of the feather is still there. She looks a bit like a porcupine running around. She seems otherwise healthy and I have...
Happy Morrows' Chicken Page
The ladies arrived on March 29th!
We were thirsty girls!
Working the camera.
We started out with 33 from Murray McMurray but 19 went home with the folks who ordered with me when they were a week old. Now we have mine: 4 Buff Orpingtons, 3...
Rte.66_chicks :
What about taking him with you to get them? Would he be able to resist the fluffy cuteness? You may end up with even more than you originally intended!!
Haha, no, he is immune to fluffy cuteness of all types. He did however, agree to the new additions. There are now three...
Here is my plan for begging to my husband for new EE chicks from the feed store
Let me begin by saying this is your fault. You allowed me to go to the feed store in spring unsupervised.
There are EE chicks at said feed store, pre sexed and they are adorable.
Let me end by saying PLEASE...
I actually have a Dominique x EE pullet right now. She is 8 weeks old and doesn't have any muffs yet though which is disappointing. I am hoping she lays blue eggs though. She came from a blue egg, and is barred, very dark wash down the front of her legs.
This pic is more like at 4-5 weeks...
