I think it is nothing unusual if they don't do the mating dance thing, some roos do and some don't. How old is the remaining rooster and what breed is he?
First of all, she is beautiful. Second, it is not unusual for chickens to change colors after a molt. If you did not change her feed or anything like that, then I would guess it is just a molting thing. No worries.

Hens go through laying cycles. The eggs are always darker at the beginning of the cycle and lighter at the end so that could be all that is happening. How long has this been going on?

Hi! I just showed my chickens at the state fair, and I won trophies again. But, I am wondering how they judge. Does anyone know what the judges look for? Nice, feathers, cleanliness, etc? I don't have enough money to buy the Standard of Perfection book, so can anybody just tell me?

I just received these birds from my neighbor for free, along with a little coop. 4 hens I think. I think they have mites. He said he cleaned out the coop and sprayed it with mite killer and powdered the chickens. Is it mites? Is there anything else I can do?
