How to stop the broodiness (Silkies)???

I have 8 Silkie hens and one rooster. Five of the hens have been broody in the nest for the last 8 weeks at least! I doubt it's very healthy for them to just sit in the nest box all day long. I have tried throwing them out in the morning and shutting the door so they can't go back in. They will find a spot on the ground and just set. I don't want any baby chicks right now - any suggestions?

Yes it does. Sorry for starting a thread unnecessarily. I should have searched more.

I usually stick 2 or 3 ice cubes under the hen. It makes them shuffle around and think the egg is useless so they leave. It usually works for me, so you can try that.
