What variety is it? The top hat seems small for a purebred Polish. Do you know how this chick was sexed by breeder? Vent sexed? Unless it is an auto-sexing breed or sex-linked the only way to determine sex is by vent sexing. I have never had any luck wing sexing my Polish. What traits...
Thanks Liv!! Glad you are having such great results. Not sure why, but Polish eggs seem to ship and hatch better than the other breeds I have raised over the years.
You can band them, but be careful. The rubber flexible bands come off easily. The ridgid bands need to be replaced as the chick grows or you can run into serious injury. The safest permanent type of marking is toe punching.
