    Can they eat this?

Yes they can, chickens will eat most anything, just don't give too much of any one thing at a time. They will soon let you know if they don't like it.

    put them chickens to work!

I put the waste hay/wood shaving and poo from my goats, sheep and chickens straight onto my borders. the chicks are in there everyday, scratching around for bugs, they break it up, turn it over and it works really well. They also like to sit under the bushes there for shade in the afternoons.

    Hay

I think you do need to be careful with the long bits. Some months ago one of my younger chicks must have taken a piece from the nesting box. When I saw her she had a 6-7inch piece sticking out of her beak, the rest inside. Didn't seem to bother her much, but bothered me a lot. I went indoors...

    Cleaning a plastic waterer

I clean mine once a week, I too have the green problem. I bought a toilet brush, which I keep just for the waterers, gets in there quite well to get off any green stuff. I also use bleach don't measure, but rinse well.

    Goose mum to be

The Warden and Puddle Foot Farm, thank you both for your replies. I am going to start with just two geese Male and Female and take it from there, I just have to source some, and certainly don't know what breed they would be, most of everything in Belize is crossbred, so we will see. When...

    Goose mum to be

I am looking to get a couple of geese, 1 goose and 1 gander to start with, I have been looking through this forum, but if you all could answer some questions for me it would be really good. Can geese live happily with chickens. If they free range during the day, are they easy to get back to...

    Chickens and Colours

Just thought I would ask if anyone else has had anything like this. I have 40 production reds. I use 3 one gallon waterers. One has a green base, one has a blue base (they are the same type) and one a slighly different type has a red base. I check the waterers several times during the day...

    Free Range and supplimenting feed

I have 40 Production Reds who free range on 28 acres, but probably only range about 4/5 acres. I feed them about 2lbs of food in the morning before I let them out, and about 2lbs of food when I bring them in, in the evening along with any kitchen scraps. They are fit healthy and producing...

What's Your Chickens names and Why are they named that?

I have 40 production reds and because they all look very much alike it's difficult to name them. However, when we got the first 12, one was very tiny and weak and we didn't even think she would make the first night. She did, she struggled, she then hurt her foot and struggled some more and...

I just want to rave about my girls for a minute.

I think my girls are WOW too. They eat almost anything, now between dogs and chickens never any waste, they keep everything virtually bug free, and each day they manage, it would seem without any effort, to produce that marvellous little nutrient package we call an egg.

    feed egg shells to chickens?

Yep I feed mine back to the hens, I just keep them in the fridge and crush them up and feed them back. I don't have any hens that eat eggs either.

    stopped laying in nest box

My hens chop and change, sometimes they will lay in the nest boxes, all forty lining up to use 3, they have more but only use 3, some lay on the floor, one comes out of the pen each morning 8ft fence and lays in the goat shed. So, I have tried everything, fake eggs, golf balls, moving them from...
