I am so upset, the day before my babies were to hatch, rats stole the eggs,
Now I have not seen a rat, but the eggs were all gone and a friend spotted a tunnel beside the chicken house that has been obviously dug out, grrrrrr
Yes they are pure bred, I bought them off a breeder of Araukanas, She was hoping for a black roo from the hatching, it was not a good hatch, Ive just got 2 out of 10 eggs. Thanks for the colour info. I can not keep roo's here. I have an anti animal neighbour, I mean all animals
OK so his comb will look different to a pullet? because it looks like a much wider comb then the black one, and a different colour. sorry if I sound duh on this subject, I'm used to light Sussex and red shavers, the red shaver is the mum, she is really a good mum, ferocious, I cant get near them.
Pullet?
What colour would you call it? its kind of mottled, I think its a roo, but I have not had these before, I think the black is a female,,,,, please please be a female.
The little mottly one has a bigger top knot and a bigger comb, but the black has a small dark comb, Does comb size...
I will try and get closer. I think they are males, but was going by what they should be by the comments, I am also going by the person who sold me the eggs. They are so flighty, I've never had flighty birds like this, it's something new for me, Its like I'm a predator going into their domain.
I got her from Auckland, she came by pet bus to Dunedin. She/he does not talk, but I dont care about the talking, the personality is what counts for me, I just love Raven, so playful, crazy bird,
Im going by what the person told me who I bought the eggs from, If the dad was a barred rock and moms are araukanas, which I saw, these two barred should be hens?? But they have combs that are colouring up and they have long legs, If they are hens that would be great. Im really unsure, I...
I bought the eggs, but I know the dad was a barred rock. and the other dad was supposed to be an Arukana over Araukana, but I dont think so now comparing them to my pure bred babies. Im having trouble getting close to these guys, and the Araukanas, I never had such flighty chicks. I will try...
Hi , he is doing great, they have to be fed pet milk because straight cows milk will kill them, he will be released when he reaches 800grms, if he doesnt get there before winter he cant be released. So I will build him an outdoor house and lots of hay to keep him warm and keep feeding him...
This is Hedgy, he was found on my steps, making a heck of a lot of noise for something so tiny, He was going peep peeep peeeep,,, I bottle fed him as his eyes and ears were closed and he had ever so soft prickles, so cute, He is in a box while I clean his cage.
