I have a broody on some eggs, we are on day 19. She got off for a moment, and I sneaked a few eggs to candle. One of the eggs was completely dark, no air sack at all. What does that mean?
Anyone have some bantams they would part with. I am looking to buy some bantam hens. Hoping to find some within 30miles of me - I live in American Fork. Would prefer them to be laying or close to laying, but not over 18mo. Not to picky on breeds, but I on not wanting any Old English or...
GotChicken? :
I'm guessing all but the Polish are Roos, though number 3 is a maybe. The red/pink color of the combs, as well as showing wattles at that age, are pretty good indicators.
Just my luck
My bantams are 5 weeks. I am not sure about a few of them. I would love to read your comments.
Here is my white cochin
Here is my blue cochin that I am sure is a roo. I give him just as a compairison
Light Brahma
Mille Fluer
This is a porcelain D'uclle that is a week older...
It looks like you have 4 cochins: a buff, a white, a partridge, and a blue/splash(this one could also be a porcelain D'uccle if it has muffs)
The chick in the fourth picture is a Mille Fleur D'uccle.
The one with out feathered feet looks like a Old English.
I feel very confident about all of...
chickensducks&agoose :
They ship on Mondays, and in order to get the chicks the 10th, they will be shipping tomorrow. I called and left a message, I just hope they get it... I've heard of people here who got their ship dates changed, and didn't even know it until the PO calls... Anyway, I am...
If you are looking for friendly chickens, I would not go with the leghorns. Mine was so mean. I hand raised her from a chick. Gave her lots of treats and attention, but she grew up to be the nastiest hen. I had to watch my back. If I bent down to change the feed or water, she would attack...

1. I have no idea. Legs are feathered.
same chick
2. Silver Hamburg?
3. RIR?
4. Mille Fleur D'uccle?
5. No idea

So, I just place my order with Ideal. I requested them for April. I am so excited.
I ordered 15 bantams:
2 mottled cochins
2 partridge cochins
3 EE
2 RIR
2 Millie Fleur D' Uccles
2 Blue laced Red Wyandottes
2 Colombian Wyandottes
Here's to hoping I get at least 1 pullet of each
So I just called Ideal on the phone this morning and asked their advice. They of course recommend the extra males - no surprise there. But I did ask her if they have lots of DOA in the winter and she said YES! She said that if you wait till April of May your will have much better shipping...
