Sick hen, paleness, lethargic and spot on tongue

Not sure that it’s canker... there are no other spots and there is not yellowness or crusting. It seems more like an open sore, it’s been bleeding on and off all day. It’s very red. To me it looks like it’s a puncture wound that isn’t healing. I haven’t done anything to treat that yet, but I...

Sick hen, paleness, lethargic and spot on tongue

I read that sometimes the comb can go pale when chickens molt, she is molting. But that doesn’t explain the nasty spot in her mouth. Does anyone know how to treat oral sores in chickens? I have antibiotics I can give her.

Sick hen, paleness, lethargic and spot on tongue

I will say her left keyhole eye has always been that way. Her other eye looks fine too, they both react to light.

Sick hen, paleness, lethargic and spot on tongue

She was about three days old when vaccinated for marek’s. Vet could be possible, but I’d have to drive far away. I live in a small rural town with no avian vets nearby.

Sick hen, paleness, lethargic and spot on tongue

One of my year and a half old black sexlink hens is sick. There is definitely something going on but I’m not sure what. She has been a bit lethargic lately, but still eats and drinks and gets around fine. Her comb and wattles are pale, and when I looked inside her mouth she had a nasty red spot...

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Yes, I live in a small town in rural Texas and it is very hard to be openly LGBTQ+, at least not without great ridicule.

Green isn’t my favorite color actually, but I love having green hair. It really messes with people’s heads lol. If you ever dye your hair green you’ll see what I mean! 👽

    ISO Pigeon eggs

Thanks! the bottle and balloon is pretty clever, I think I’ll try that one if needed. I’ve seen people who cut the tips on the syringe spout to make the opening bigger but that didn’t seem very good to me, the babies might choke on the formula. Considering that squabs just eat out of the parents...

    ISO Pigeon eggs

How do you hand feed them? I’ve been looking at syringes in case I need to help my hen feed them. But I cant find any that have a large enough spout for the chicks to put their bills into.

Do you ship? I’d love eggs if you ever have any available!

    ISO Pigeon eggs

Ah, okay. Beautiful birds! I understand being leery of shipping live birds. It can be tricky and dangerous For the animal. Shipping eggs is much more easy. With all that said, I think I’ll hold off on the hens, but if you get any eggs I’m still very interested! :) thank you for your responses...

    Guineas and Roosters???

I love guineas! They are like the dogs of ground fowl in my experience. Very loud spunky dogs. Also Guineas in the wild are monogamous, so they like to be in mated pairs. My Guineas stand up to the chickens and roosters, they are built like tanks and fight dirty so the Roos don’t pick on them...
