Haha! Turkey slapped! haha! My Icelandics were given to me by a friend who wanted a more snuggly breed. I can check for you where she got them from. But, I understand that David Grote has beautiful Iceys. :) http://www.davidgrote.com/icelandic-chickens.html
Thank you all for your insights, I now know he is a cockerel. His wattles are coming in right now, and he is def a boy. If there is anyone here on Vancouver Island, B.C, Canada that would like an Icelandic cockerel. Let me know. I have two. They are almost 6 weeks old and I handle them daily...
I think this one is confusing me, because his/her comb is much smaller than the other two cockerels, yet it is bigger than Obi Won Henobi's (I will attach her pics) I have felt since they hatched, that I had three cockerels and one pullet. But, just secretly hoped this one may be a pullet haha...
This is one of the first of MANY questions I will have regarding showing chickens, I have shown horses for decades haha but never a chicken. I was also wondering, are Icelandic chickens recognized to show in Canada? I cannot seem to find much info on showing them. I have a small flock of Iceys...
Looking for some insight into what people think this little Icelandic may be. I am hoping pullet, but I kinda feel like cockerel sometimes. What do you think?
I think the other two I have are cockerels for sure. I really want this one to be pullet, but I jump back and forth on it. She/he may feather out to speckled or mille fleur or whatever that cool colour is called and she/he has almost olive legs. I am hoping she is a she, and not a he! The other...
I cant figure out if this little Icey is a cockerel or a pullet. Help! haha! He/she is Obi Won Henobi's half sibling, they are almost six weeks old. I feel like cockerel. I also feel like three out of the four are cockerels.
:hmm  :p
I have four chicks in my first Icelandic "crop" and some more hatching out as we speak. This is my favourite, and one that is staying for sure. Her dad is ChewBAWKa (the roo in my profile pic) Introducing, Obi Won Henobi <3
Thank you :) His ladies names are Princess Layer, Darth Layder and Hen Solo :)
His two 19 day old roo sons names are Luke Flywalker and Jabba the Cluck. I havent named the other two chicks yet haha
Hello all,
I am looking forward to learning about chicken husbandry here. I currently have 4 Icelandic chickens, 3 hens and 1 roo. I have my first 4 chicks from them here, they are now 18 days old. I am a horse trainer from Canada and have a 23 acre farm. I will likely have many questions...
I have Icey chick colour questions too. These are my first four chicks from my small flock. I have a blue hen, a black hen with green sheen, a black hen with a brown head/neck and a white roo with blue/brown leakage. I know I have one blue hen chick and the yellow chick is a roo and looks like...
