Anything I need to look out for? My 1st bator attempt went horribly wrong so any advice would be much appreciated!
Well...1st attempt ever of incubating eggs...DISASTER!!! they were in the bator for over 4 weeks and today i plucked up the courage to chuck them and start again. 2 of the eggs were almost developed (that broke my heart!) but the rest looked like they started developed, then stopped.
Any ideas...
Sounds like it might be mites? I lost one on the weekend to chicken mites...nasty buggers...symptoms...lethargic, aenemic looking, 'hiding'...mine had its head hidden between two peices of wood in the coup...I knew there was something wrong with her straight away as usually...u cant pick mine...
Hi
I have 15 eggs in my incubator...13 of which have been in there for 4 and a half weeks...the other 2 only 2 and a half weeks. We have seem movement in the eggs (i put spots on the top f the eggs and they have defo moved - and i turned the rotator off a week ago so its not that...there is...
We are incubating eggs and when it went past their due date my mum got all frantic and bored, so she told me to crack one open and see what was in it..so i did...and turns out...it was a half developed chick!!! So i know how you feel!

The eggs i used were from our own hens...we seperated them off so we could have 'pure' eggs...2 hens to 1 cockral. I know there is something inside them as i did infact crack on open after 3 and a half weeks...and there was a half developed chick inside it (scarred me for life!)
I am shocked...
Hi
I was left on my own this weekend while parents and brother went up to scotland. Saturday morning I opened up the chicken coup to let them out...usually they all fly at me and I try and count them all out! This time there was fewer than I had counted the day before...so I looked in..and...
Hi
This year it has been my 1st time incubating eggs (bantam eggs). We have had several semi successfull years with leaving the eggs under hens but this year we thought we'd try something different.
I am however slightly worried...the eggs have been in the incubator for 4 and a half weeks now...
