This is the third. There are no vets in my area who treat ducks, so that's not an option.
She's very hoarse, slightly droopy wings, lethargic, but still has a great appetite. Greenish poop on her hiney. I've wormed her with ivermectin. The last one, I did some ivermectin and then some...
Mine are definitely NOT too big since I've raised them to forage some, and I feed them on a diet that's less rich than commercial feeds. So I shouldn't fun into that issue with my roos. I do have one hen who is just huge, and lazy, but she's very very healthy. Her breathing is much better...
In FL, you can't sell any meat, period, without an inspection. You can't even sell eggs at a farmer's market without having your facility inspected, and there are requirements for even the type of sink used to wash eggs. I can only sell eggs if someone comes to my farm to get them.
So just...
In most states, you have to sell the bird live, or you have to be insured, inspected, etc to sell food to the public. So as long as you're not planning to do the processing yourself, or if so you're only going to be "gifting" the birds to family or close friends (ie, they pay for the bird and...

Good to know. I'm planning on keeping the best of both the hens and roos, just in case something goes wrong with one or the other.
What about the cornish roo and other hen made that the best cross?
mdulik, that's my intention for them too. I have a REALLY nice, fast-growing, large RIR roo that I want to cross on the biggest hens, and use some of my FIL's large wyandottes, and my one large EE hen, for the biggest of the cornishX roosters. I'm not trying to create anything too wonderful...
The head goes into the woods, and the rest goes in the chicken pen. Any bones left after the chickens have had a day to munch gets picked up and tossed into the woods. Keeping the bones in the pen for more than a couple days seems to attract buzzards.
We lost several to piling the first 2 days, but totally our fault. Since then, we have lost 1 out of 25. They are 10 weeks old, and are all still doing fine, aside from only being about 5lb. But then I feed them whole grains and alfalfa pellets, not a soy-based feed.
Not enough room for 100 birds. Not even close. You could do 50, but only if you don't mind them eating every scrap of grass in a very short time period.
The other issue with pasturing them is that they are white. White attracts hawks like mad, so if there is no roof on the enclosure, or they...

Costco brand does not have any corn. It's a very good food.
Are you getting, "Kirkland Signature Super Premium Maintenance Cat Formula" from Costco? It is named Kirkland but Friskies/Purina put it out.
Chris
Yeas, it's Kirkland. Just because it's made in a Purina mill doesn't mean...

Most any feed store will carry those things. For rice bran, you might have to call around to feed stores that cater to horses.
Rice bran, is that the light weight hulls? If so how do you feed it chickens or horses?
Joe
It's sold as a pellet or a meal. I buy the meal as it's about $5...

I have done wet beet pulp shreds, and mine wouldn't touch it.
Also, be careful with feeding kelp free-choice to anything. It's very high in iodine, which can cause goiter (swelling of the thyroid). It's especially bad for pregnant animals. Eventually, too much iodine can be toxic.
I use corn in my mix, but it would be easy to eliminate.
I do alfalfa pellets, rice bran, bird seed, sunflower seeds, and some Costco cat food, ground in a blender. I add corn to it because they like it, but you could leave the corn out. Just don't put oats in your blender. It seems to kill...
I feed a mix of alfalfa pellets, corn, sunflower seeds, rice bran, bird seed, and cat food, all ground together in the blender. My layers won't touch alfalfa pellets unless ground with other yummy stuff. Just don't add oats to the blender if you try it. Oats seem to kill blenders.
The meat...
I feed a lot of soaked alfalfa cubes and/or pellets to my horses (none of them get bagged feed because one is sensitive to soy). I've tried feeding the cubes or pellets to the chickens, in different ways, but the layers seem to only really like it if it's ground up with some corn and a bit of...

Did you confirm it when they email you?
Yep, also did the whole cell phone code thing, and I can click on the link the emailed and it shows up. It just doesn't show up on the actual farm & garden page. Very odd.
