Its actually day 22,I looked at the calander wrong. I just heard chirping and looked through the glass and 1 has already piped. Is hatching at 22 days ok?
Out of the first 24 that were shipped to me, 7 were sterile and no development. Today is day 21 and going into lockdown, hopefully the rest all hatch out :)
When should I candle the eggs for the first time? I've hatched chickens before and usually do it on day 7 for the first time, but since it takes phesants longer to hatch, should I wait 10-11 days?
Also these are eggs that were shipped to me and I understand the hatch rate may be low due to shipping. They were very well pack and also placed inside egg cartons with shreader paper. They were little end down in the carton. Since I am turning them by hand will it be ok to lay them on their...
This will be my first time trying to incubate phesant eggs, any tips for a successful hatch. I have been told to keep my temp at 100 F in a forced air incubator but what should my humidity be?
I have hatched chickens before, but this time we are going to try phesants. Anyone have any suggestions for there humidity level or is it pretty much the same as chickens?
This may be a crazy question but I am a little confused on humidity. The charts I have found list Humidity as wet bulb. I have 2 digital thermometers in my incubator that show the temp and humidity, my question is are these showing wet bulb humidity or the relative humidity? Here is a pic of the...

...hatch rate. It can hold 3 or 4 trays/egg turners at a time. I had planned on using 3 turners at a time, then using the bottom area as a hatcher. ***This incubator does not come with the egg turners***
How many eggs it can hold at a time depends on whether or not your going to use flat try...

See thats the thing, when I opened them they were actually still alive! They moved a little and died within the 1st 5 minutes. So they were not already dead or been dead for days. Thats what makes it really wierd to me, and I thought maybe it was a disease or bacteria or something.
I understand about them having a yolk sac still and dying before hatch, or right after piping. I just don't understand why it is that dark nasty green color, i have never seen that before. The yolh is normally yellow to a orange color, not green.
In the 1st and 3rd pics there is even more yolk under the chick you can't see. The 1st and 3rd pic is 1 chick, and the 2nd pic is another one. When I candled the eggs I did not see any movement, but when I opened them up both chicks were actually still alive and died shortly after. So I don't...
These were due to hatch yesterday and when they didn't I candled them and then cracked them open to look. I have never had an experience like this where the yolks were med-dark green and extremely large. Any ideas on what causes this? Had other eggs in the bator with these, and they hatched...
