2,7 & 9 ended up being my pullets. Lol we were pretty much all off! I thought #5 was a 4th pullet until “she” started crowing! Polish chicks just don’t seem to be my area of expertise :idunno:p
I’m so glad you replied. But I am sorry for your loss. That sounds extremely familiar. My red had greenish poop stuck to her feathers with undigested food. The two I’ve had recover were some of my friendliest hens that were willing to eat or drink anything I put in front of them. I’ll definitely...
My RIR made it through the night, but when I went to check on her this morning she stood up, had a seizure and died in my arms. I’ve never experienced anything like that
I used Wazine as wormer, thank you so much. All of the ones that have gotten sick were vaccinated for coccidiosis at the hatchery. Is that still a possibility?
Help! I'm about at my wit's end. Several months ago I went out to the coop and found my 1 year old barred rock hen acting sick. She was having trouble standing up, watery bright green poop, pale comb and wattles, and just generally lethargic. I did some searching on here and immediately...
I thought that pullets had a rounder crest and cockerels would have “crazy” hair. But the only one I’m SURE of had the prettiest little round puff right before he started crowing. So I don’t know what to even look for at this point! Thank you for your thoughts!
Okay, a little back story here. Last year I ordered sexed chicks from a hatchery. The hatchery I ordered from include a “mystery chick” with each order and I ended up with a white crested black polish roo. Being the only chick with crest feathers he’s been severely bullied and spend most of his...
I just noticed my one month old silver laced polish chick’s beak isn’t quite right. I had a scissor beaked polish several years ago but this doesn’t look the same. The top of its beak has a very sharp curve and the lower beak seems to be too long. It’s mouth doesn’t close all the way and I’m...
I purchased a “sexed hen” from a hatchery, he/she/it is 2 months old and has just started call and redonse crowing with my 4 week old barred rock bantam rooster. She’s my first polish chick and I have no clue how to sex them. If she’s crowing does that definitely mean she’s a rooster??
As chicks they were all four the same size, he quickly got much bigger than the rest, but was also the last to get feathers. That’s why I’m thinking he may just be a late bloomer bloomer lol (He’s the one with the yellow dot on his head & the middle chick in the second photo)
Buff Orpingtons are just notoriously great mothers. It’s good if you want chicks, but unfortunately can get pretty annoying if eggs are the only goal. I spent months trying to break my buff before finally giving up and letting her sit.
