RRHounddog, we will have to see how each other's turn out!
So happy I got in contact with the right people! Next year, I'm definitely going to get birds from the best breeders around!
So you feed Flock Raiser instead of Starter when they are tiny? Or are you saying that once they are off of Starter, the FR has enough Niacin in it that you don't have to supplement anymore?
I have no idea where my duck is laying her eggs. I've found a few in the pen, but now that's warming up some, they aren't sleeping in their pen anymore. They spend the night on the pond & mid-morning she disappears for awhile, I assume she's laying an egg during her MIA time. **** if I can...
I would agree with you, except that these were bought at an auction. I would venture to say that the person who was selling them knew they were all roos. Especially because the auction place has a lot of old school, experienced farmers. They aren't there to sell for fun or prettiness of the...
Thanks everyone! I started calling them Fat Bottom Girls accidently. I would always greet them by telling them how pretty they were. Then one day I looked at my girls eating at the feeder, butts up in the air (similar to my pic) &said "oh my girls have fat bottoms!" Then I started singing the...
I adore my Grandma...we have our chickens co-residing at the moment. Awhile back she took 6 cockerels & roosters to the auction, as we had too many here. We were left with 2 roos & 30 girls.
She comes home from the auction, all excited & wanted my son & I to come out to the barn to see what...
Thanks everybody! I had suggested WH at one point, & hubby shot it down. Since asking here, & getting the WH so many times, he's come around. They're back out on the pond all the time, they seem no worse for it. Better actually, happier. After a few days in the barn, hubby let them out of it...
Hi everybody! I've creeped this site for a long time but finally joined today. My husband, 8yr old son, & I live on my families' farm with my Grandparents. They've always had cattle, Angus mostly. My Grandma has had some chickens throughout the years, as a....collection. She didn't pay much...
I work at a large grocery store chain, it's huge in PA, OH, MD. (Great company to work for BTW) We double coupons up to 99¢, so if it's a 99¢ coupon, it's actually worth $1.98. If it's a $1 or more that's all it's worth. We also do have a limit to how many computer generated coupons can be used...
Thank you both! We did think Swedish Blacks, so that's good. We weren't sure about the others. Rouens seem like a good fit from what I've read. It really doesn't matter to me what they are, just feel better knowing.
Now to figure out what the chickens are she brought home a couple weeks after...
In September, my Grandma came home from a livestock auction with 4 ducks. No information about these ducks came with them. I've been trying to figure out off & on since then what breed they are. I'd appreciate any help y'all could give me! Thanks in advance!
This is the first day they came...
