It feels like the bone from the knee is detached from the tibia bone. I have posted a picture how I have splinted the leg and bandaged it now, I dont know what her chances are of the leg healing though?
How is your hen doing? I have a similar issue ..
So.. 2 days ago I found one of my hens on the floor in the rain and when I went to her she never moved, she seems to have a broken leg at the knee joint, she’s not moving her toes and the lower leg just wobbles from side to side. I have tried...
Wow this is an amazing story I’m so pleased that she recovered.

Hi so I have just hatched 3 chicks, light Sussex too x buff Orpington hens.. one is more white and the other two a touch more cream/yellow .. any ideas if they are pullets or Roos?
This is the BEST info I have read about assisting hatching.. mine had gone to day 23 and pipped away from air sac and clearly too big to push!! 1 pipped and zipped itself, 2 have had a little help.. waiting for no 4.. pipped and peeping away!! I think it is also going to need a hand.. 3 chicks...
Ok day 22.. I am sat at the kitchen table doing my paper work, and what do I hear.. cheap cheap cheap Yey!!! One has pipped through the shell, more to the middle than the end of it, but anyway I am praying now I am going to have a chicken by tonight!! Ido hope the noise is encourages the others...
Hi guys so I’m at Day 21 today! Yesterday one egg has a chip on it where the air sac is but it’s not pipped. There are 3 more eggs in the bator.. if the egg with the chip on it still hasn’t pipped tonight what shall I do?
Ok so day 18, just candled eggs for the last time, all chicks have grown well, saw movement in 3 of the 4 but bit difficult to seeehen they’re bigger isn’t it. Increased humidity and put them on the rack in the bottom of incubator. Lock down begins !!! Pray for me everyone I have a good feeling...
Ok so Day 13.. 24hrs after settling in the incubator I have candles the eggs.. I have faintly drawn a pencil line around the air sac and...
ALL 4 EMBRYOS ARE MOVING!!! Yey!!!
So.. broody hen has decided enough is enough!! She’s out of the game, we’re 12 days in and have 4 fertile eggs with growing embryos and I’ve borrowed an incubator so fingers crossed we still could have some chicks
Aww do you think so? I hope so! I thought it was supposed to be more reliable under a broody than incubator. Plus as I have a broody hen and fertile eggs it seems like the ideal situation then momma hen can rear them too
