    Crossing ayam cemani

Fyi to anyone coming here in 2021... that the Columbian genetics specifically I've found to play really nicely with Fibro!! They somehow dominate white. And are sexlinked by skin colour if you use a Cemani rooster and all light skinned hens (females have black skin, males do not).

Ayam Cemani crossed with Columbia Rock

Hey all! Just wanted to share pictures of my Fibro X Columbian Project crossbreed as I've yet to see many like this! Have more eggs hatching soon and will have further updates on the varieties included - but so far I've hatched this BEAUTIFUL black skinned but mostly white feathered cross from...

    Colombian Rock Genetics

I realize this thread is very old but I came here to note that a true "Columbian" breed will have a silver background. It also has it's own genetic name (Co) and is basically the opposite of any breed with black-boosting genetics. Instead it is a black-inhibiting expression - with the ability...

    Need help with humidity specifics!

I'm hoping someone with more experience can answer some curiousity type questions I have regarding the specifics of humidity and when things are NOT ideal, for any number of reasons (mine being that we have frequent power outages and there's often downtime while I get the generator started and...

Breeding help - polydactyly trait in Ayam Cemani's - recessive or dominant?

Ah good call! I was mostly joking anyway and would be sure to always be clear that they were five toed and NOT The breed standard, and sell at barnyard mix prices. Likely just keep as pets and eat eggs tho.

Breeding help - polydactyly trait in Ayam Cemani's - recessive or dominant?

Definitely looks like it's an AC cross! Maybe half silkie tho! I bet will be a beautiful lil vulture one day!! Lol

Breeding help - polydactyly trait in Ayam Cemani's - recessive or dominant?

Can you help me figure out how to move this thread to a diff category? I can't seem to find the option and wasn't sure where to put it. Thank you!

Breeding help - polydactyly trait in Ayam Cemani's - recessive or dominant?

I have two adorable lil mutant Ayam Cemanis, each with five toes on one foot only (supposed to only be four). I've looked at studies done on polydactylism but they are honestly just hard to understand. Anyone know a lot about this and care to explain in layman's terms?! Lol! Pretty please...

GROSS WARNING!! BUT NEED Help!! Blood sac still attached to baby chick.

SHE'S STILL OKAY! But what do I do with this black dried lump on her butt? Video attached. Soak and see if it comes off? Use eye ointment gel (worked wonders for my pasty butt chick?) She's drinking water but haven't seen her eat yet. Perfectly active and alert like all others. Other chick...

Temp was also 37.7C the entire hatch. Maybe too high?!

GROSS WARNING!! BUT NEED Help!! Blood sac still attached to baby chick.

Well I officially can't just say it was bad luck. :( Our second last egg (hatched on day 21, entirely different breed and egg colour) also has the exact same issue. Very large bloody attachment left after hatching on its own. I have proceeded with the same measures but this one is not thriving...

GROSS WARNING!! BUT NEED Help!! Blood sac still attached to baby chick.

Good call! Moved her out again. Tried to get a short video to show the wound again... But can't seem to upload it. It's getting more and more dried with every moment.. looks like it's going to fall off? Is hanging by just a little cord now. Not getting my hopes up too high... but does she ever...

GROSS WARNING!! BUT NEED Help!! Blood sac still attached to baby chick.

Definitely did not look like yolk to me. Was all red and veryyyy bloody at first (streaks of blood all through the incubator, I was sure she wasn't gonna last an hour even). She's back in the incubator with the others, I turned lights off to avoid them pecking the remaining bits, but they are...

GROSS WARNING!! BUT NEED Help!! Blood sac still attached to baby chick.

Ah was really hoping to avoid this. Is my first hatch ever so wasn't stupid enough to think I could ever assist hatch ... But THIS HAPPENED ANYWAY. She honestly seems okay. Can walk and move. If she goes lethargic I will euthanize as I know it's better than suffering... But okay to wait still...
