I have been looking for other feeds to possibly use for my ducks, I am currently using Dumor layer feed, but just don't think it is as good for ducks as other feds, so far I have found Mazuri, and Southern states duck feed, but what does everyone else use for their ducks? I have a Cayuga pair, 2...
I just got these ducks today and all have bumble foot, I got Epsom salt, vetrysin, gauze, and vet wrap, but how much salt to water ratio do I need? and for how long do leave them in it? I will be treating wth the vetrysin 3 times a day, should I soak their feet everyday too? or just initially...
I am thinking of getting this Indian runner trio, they have been shown, but they sjut don't have time to show them anymore and want to cut back. How do they look? Penciled pair, and a fawn and white. I was told by one person their type is good, and color is nice, and that they are really nice...
Also they can get frostbite, but mine would walk a few steps and lay down, and they were only out for a few seconds. lol then they got more active as the sun came out,
snow is fine for them as long as they have somewhere to get out of it, here in Ohio, mallards don't migrate and stay right trough all the snow and cold, so far my ducks have done very good with the snow.
We did have one other bloody egg, not anymore that I know of, none of them were acting funny, I think I might rack the leftover eggs to be shure though.
I am working on something now to cover the gap :) Here are duck I am looking at getting, Either Indian runner (a penciled pair, and a fawn and white duck) Apple yards, and Cayugas. I know the Indian Runners are show birds, and I was told the Appleyards are from someone who shows, not shure on...
I also might consider geese, like apair of Chinese or something, if I get like a trio of large breeds, I will prably rehome my Pekin (I have them really only as pets/egg layes I thought one was a drake and it turned out to be a hen that's why I got the Cayuga originally :P )
they do have a shelter, it prably would keep one in, but it has wheels on the bottom so I cam move it often, so it has a little gap at the bottom, my one pekin somehow dug a hole and squeezed out of it once. lol I am not even shure how :P but we live in the country, but its not in a place with a...
I get a trio of Cayuga this July for 4H,a nd have since been told my drake is a mix, and I can not use mixes fr 4H, so I had to sell them, so I am now looking for a new breed (or even keeping Cayuga) what typed do you all recommend for show? top on my list would be Mallards, Cayuga, Appleyard...
Egg question!!! We have 2 pekins who are laying, no drakes that are old enough to fertilize anything, and my aunt was making a cake, cracked an egg into it, and it was filled with blood!!! What would make an unfertilized egg have blood all in it? and this is not like just a blood spot, it was...
I am in ohio :) I let them stay in the really cold day, and I did spread straw down, but they were only out for like 1mn befor they started to act like they were. lol
