Hello, I know my hen well now, when she needs draining her comb turns blue and she doesn't move around much. After I drain her she follows me all day. Here's how I do it: take a sterile 16ga needle without a syringe and gently insert two inches below vent, two inches to right or left. If you...
I got 18 eggs from 10 hens in two days. Ever since I put a four bulb grow light in coop, they have really started producing. I feed southern states crumble, pellet and cracked corn. They free range daily.
I have a six month old buff ORP pullet that's not doing well. I noticed a few weeks ago she was off balance and favored one leg. Checked for injury and found lice not many just a few. I treated her with poultry dust twice in two weeks and once with Adams. She seems to have a neurological...

Thank you yeah that makes perfect sense, he is only like eight weeks old, I did notice he had no feeling in the skin when I punctured it. I used a 16 gauge sterile needle. He is a lot better now
Thanks I have never seen anything like it, swelled up like a ballon literally I assumed his lungs somehow were leaking. Its been a few days with no air, seems a lot better
Update: he is doing a lot better I poked him with needle everyday for a week and seems better, I just found it strange that it was immediately after a dog attack where 2 injured one dead.
i had a dog kill one bird and injure 2 others, now the little roo is filling with air on the right side. it has been going on a week.Every morning I stick a needle in and let air out, he is not sensitive at all on the skin. I think his lungs may be leaking air? I don't know why else he would...
I have a rooster named Saul, he is the size of a dove with the cockiness of a bull. If I pick him up he dozes off then when I put him down he does the pu pu pu pawaw and acts tough.
Thanks so much for info! To comment about nutrition and worms, they free range and are supplemented with cracked corn and layena crumbles. I feed rice also. The flock looks great and are healthy just two a couple had mites and they were 4 month olds
I have waited a week, no sign of mites however my buff hen is still anemic and I hope she recovers soon. I feed her scrambled eggs everyday. Any idea how long recovery is?
