Hello everyone.
So two days ago I found a tiny duckling in one of my ducks nests there were a few ducklings dead and the Mum wasn’t on the nest, there was only one duckling alive and a little bit cold. I decided to take it inside out it under a heatlamp, give it food and water.
Today I have...
hi everyone
Our family are thinking of getting peafowl and have around 2 acres fenced with chickens, ducks and alpacas free ranging in there. They get put away into a coop at night ( not the alpacas). Would the peacocks go inside the coop with them? Would they get along with ducks and chickens...
We have this 2 year old hen and her eyes have started sinking and she needs help getting back into the coop at night as I don’t think she can see. Should we take her to a vet and what is going on with her?
Ok here’s some photos of their house and the nest:
(They can go in and out freely and I never lock it and i pull it in to feed them as we have problems with foxes)
Hi everyone,
So I have a few questions about getting ducks to hatch their own eggs.
It’s the start of spring here and my one of my silver appleyard ducks have started laying her fertile eggs in the corner of our floating duck house (they live on a dam). She’s made a bit of a nest and there are...
i have one week left on these chicken eggs before they hatch but found this strange brown dot in the side of one of the eggs. What does this mean? Should I throw it away?
Here’s a pic.
Unfortunately he didn’t make it out of the egg he had pipped all the way around the egg and then died. Very disappointing and sad. But when I opened the egg up he did seem to be a wild duckling. Thank you though!
could you incubate duck eggs and goose eggs together and raise them together. What are the differences? Are geese aggressive or loud and would they keep foxes away? Would they get along as adults as they would shared the same dam?
Thanks
i found an egg on the side of our dam and decided (because we have domestic ducks and drakes on it) to incubate it and see what happens. During incubation i realised that not just our ducks hang around there, but also some Australian wood ducks. So there is a chance it could be their egg.

You can use warm water and dab it on the dried up membrane. If it gets really stuck you can try help it out by picking pieces of the shell off carefully. Try and wet the membrane first and see if it can get out by itself, leave it for a bit, if it can’t get out I would try and help it out.
I bought this rooster from an auction of fertile eggs and these fertile eggs were listed as ‘fertile show quality bantam silkie eggs’.
Is there a name for the type of colouration he has?
And is he actually ‘show quality’?
Thanks!!
Hi everyone.
I’m thinking of raising an orphan lamb in a couple of months but still have some unanswered questions after doing some research.
1. Can you raise one orphan lamb by itself or is it better to raise it alongside another orphan lamb so it isn’t lonely?
2. How often do you need to...
hi everyone. We have a one acre paddock with three Australian mini pigs and we are thinking of getting two miniature goats and putting them in the same paddock as our mini pigs. There are a lot of mixed messages and views on this topic online and I was wondering if anyone keeps goats with their...
I'm getting a pair of Elizabeth ducks soon and was wondering if they could fly and if they could if they would fly far away if I don't clip their wings? Thanks
