Hello! My broody hen (duck) is sitting on a clutch, however I had to bring in a few due to the recent freeze Texas had.
I have one in the incubator thats been thriving. I’m not sure the exact day of incubation it’s on since it started under my hen.
Not sure what’s going on now - The air cell...
When and how can I tell the gender of these chick crosses: WTB roo x Maran hen chicks or WTB roo x Barred Rock hen chicks? 🤨
I have 11 chicks of these crosses! TIA!
@Pyxis any recommendations? I went ahead and broke the white membrane for Egg B using a sharp screw, and it now looks like this.. wondering if I should use coconut oil on the membrane? Humidity is currently at 80%
Egg A has now broke off a good part of the shell & I can see it breathing just...
I would not use my experience as a baseline as I was testing out an experiment of hatching grocery store bought eggs so it could’ve been a multitude of reasons for failure!
I have a second round of eggs in that are my own eggs and I know are fertile and the thermometer I was using before was...
I have 5 silkie eggs due to hatch in the incubator. 2 have externally pipped.
- Egg A: has broken the white membrane is chirping, approx 8 hours ago around 8 AM
- Egg B: has not broken the white membrane, approx 7 hours ago around 9 AM
The other 3 have not externally pipped (and I don't know...
We don’t have a generator but after this Texas winter storm and now this! I’m getting one ASAP. For the mean time, when I cover with blankets what if the humidity jumps?
Our power just went out because a transformer nearby blew up.
On day 20 - temp is now down 91.6 with humidity 70°.
Should I put blankets on the incubator? I’m so worried to have gotten this far & have this happen!
They said power will be restored in a couple hours. Anything i can do?
Hi! Yes the other ones (except one of them where I can't see very well) do have veins and are moving, just look much more behind.
Yes - I have the farm innovators 4250 model incubator and am finding it does have hot/cold spots. I am guessing I should move the underdeveloped right under the...
On day 14 for 8 silkie eggs and some look way more developed than others, any experience with this? I removed the turner today since some eggs look like day 18. Should I increase humidity even though some are less developed? I would hate for the more developed ones to be shrink wrapped or not be...
Here’s a video of my silkie eggs on day 7. I am not familiar with what a detached air cell looks like, so my question is does that block of shade towards pointy end look like one? Or does this look normal?
This is my first time incubating chicken eggs & candling. I normally incubate emu eggs which you can’t candle & dont do lockdown.
I have legbar (bluish green eggs) & copper marans (dark brown) so it’s hard for me to see.
Do these look like they’re ready for lockdown? I’m using my husbands...
I've never incubated chicken eggs, and somewhere between day 1 and day 14 I confused myself (use to incubating emu eggs) and haven't noticed the temp is at 95 degrees. Candled today and all are still moving and alive. Should I adjust temp gradually or keep where it's at?
